Clear mahogany with chestnut lowlights and a medium quickly dissipating tan topper leaves some minor lacing. Aroma of dark malts, toffee, nuts, brown sugar and toasted malt. Taste is malty with dark toasted malt, nut bark and light chocolate. Not terribly flavorful and finishes with some roasted malt astringency.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 Chronoflash (76) - New York, USA - JAN 29, 2011
A tawny pour, cloudy with ruby highlights and an over-the-top four inch light hazelnut head. A very forward dried fruit profile laced with a syrupy sweet caramel, a bit of spice, likely from some citric hops, and a not-to-pleasant phenolic sting of lacquer. Whoa, this beer is wildly spicy, a bitter bite that jumps to the fore and sinks in past the finish, razzing almost any other palatable sense moot. Getting past that (or attempting to), the beer is medium-light weigh, with extremely strong carbonation. The flavor is a bit fruity and roasty... but honestly, this beer is unpalatable. Somebody turned up the dial on the astringent/bitter characteristics of this beer way too high. Perhaps I got a bad batch? Who knows....

Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured a deep browwn with a thin bead. Nose is yeasty, malty and a bit musty. A thin bodied slightly hoppy brown ale. Something tastes a touch off, maybe it’s the miusty nose comin through in the flavor.
