COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our malty, sweet dark lager is a hometown favorite. Our Dunkel is packed with subtle roasted malt flavors without the excessive bitterness and heaviness of many dark beers and has a balanced hop finish. O.G. 13.5 Plato 5.2% ABV

I enjoy a good dunkel, but am not too fond of this one. It tastes a bit sour and nutty, not bitter enough.

watery for a dunkel. Ruby red in appearance, not as dark as I expected. Huge head and tempting aroma - it just doesn’t deliver on taste. Palate is medium to light bodied with minimum aftertaste.

A tawny pour, cloudy with ruby highlights and an over-the-top four inch light hazelnut head. A very forward dried fruit profile laced with a syrupy sweet caramel, a bit of spice, likely from some citric hops, and a not-to-pleasant phenolic sting of lacquer. Whoa, this beer is wildly spicy, a bitter bite that jumps to the fore and sinks in past the finish, razzing almost any other palatable sense moot. Getting past that (or attempting to), the beer is medium-light weigh, with extremely strong carbonation. The flavor is a bit fruity and roasty... but honestly, this beer is unpalatable. Somebody turned up the dial on the astringent/bitter characteristics of this beer way too high. Perhaps I got a bad batch? Who knows....

12 oz bottle compliments of Hopscotch. Dark brown with a nice foamy, long lasting, tan head. Faint malty, doughy aroma. First taste is a tad bit sour but improves as it goes. A bit on the weak, watery side even for a lager. Not a bad beer, but far from great.

Really disappointed in this beer. It took 8-10 minutes to be able to empty the bottle into my glass. Foam head was as tall as the glass. Slowly faded. Color was nice and aroma had caramel, malts and a little sweetness. Way too much carbonation. I tried to finish the pour drinking right out of the bottle and ended up with it running all over everything. Again, was excited at a dark beer, but other than the color was really disappointed.

Received from World Beer Direct Beer-of-the-Month club. Pours deep brown with healthy, long lasting beige head. Aroma is burnt buttery caramel. Taste is also somewhat buttery with a medium sweetness on the backside. Palate is smooth with a full body and light carbonation. Worth another pour.

I was surprised to find this at my local Publix, as Atwater I didn’t think was all that big. It was a good surprise though, as the beer was dark and sweet like it said it was. I enjoyed the heck out of this beer aside from the heavy carbonation which caused me to take smaller drinks.

Bottle..nice dark black color with good head that lasted thru out...nice lacing on glass...not too much on aroma, could detect a little of the roastedness, slight choc...nice taste, but nothing that really sets this apart from others in this catagory...a nice drink, but looking for more

I really used to like this beer, but it has been difficult to find since stoney creek bought it. A great starter for someone expirimenting with darks.

The most dangerous beer in America! Its exploding all over the USA! LITERALLY!! Of course its over-carbonated, it started refermenting on the warm shelf or truck it was shipped in. Using cheap glass doesn’t help and the forty year old soda bottle filler doesn’t get steam sterilized (chemical only). DIRTY BREWERY = DIRTY BEER!
