An interesting beer, though not a Dunkel as so named. Heady as hell when poured, tan colored with a dark brown body. Aroma is slightly sour and fruity. Taste is of sour apple initially blending to a malty backbone, very little in the way of hops.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured a deep browwn with a thin bead. Nose is yeasty, malty and a bit musty. A thin bodied slightly hoppy brown ale. Something tastes a touch off, maybe it’s the miusty nose comin through in the flavor.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 HumuloneRed (750) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 20, 2006
This was a beer of the month club beer. The nose is of slight roasty malt with a butter background. Flavor has chocolate, butter, and fruit with smooth and crisp finish. I has a slight creamy texture to it as well. Okay beer. At least it is clean.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jimmack34 (632) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - MAR 4, 2009
8-15-08. Bottle. Poured brown with a very light tan head that disapates quickly. Smelled of burnt brown sugar. Tasted of sweet malt, toffee, chocolate, and a litle grainy. Slight medicinal taste. A little thin for something so sweet, but not bad.
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jetzler (622) - oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA - MAR 25, 2007
Bottle, pours a dark red/brown color with a nice and fluffy head, not as big as many of the german variety but nice. The aroma is different, reminds me strongly of soy sauce and tobacco. A bit of tobbaco tastes, reminds me of dipping copenhagen, finish is kind of light. Very carbonated. Not as malty or robust of flavor as I expected. The smell is quite strange not very familar with it in the beer world, I feel like I can smell salt, but there is no salty or soy taste to it. hmm strange. Maybe just soggy and moldy grains were used. Hey I am not bashing this beer but I am not lauding it either.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 unclebleen (620) - California, USA - AUG 27, 2004
Pours a nice looking burnt caramel color with a small rimming off-white head. Lacing is nice. Aroma is very nutty and with some light, but nice hop notes. Flavor is nuts, caramel but not too sweet. Finish is slightly nutty and hoppy. Nice clean swallow. This is pretty good.
