3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ughsmash (5631) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 17, 2008
Bottled, and a serious gusher.. eventually poured slightly hazy medium golden with a towering cap of white head. The aroma picked up bright pine and citrus notes over caramel, toffee, and light cleaner.. overall not bad. The flavor picked up toasted bready notes, lemon zest, and pils-ish malts with herbal, citrus, and piney bitterness rising toward and through the finish.. quite tasty. Medium-bodied with way too much carbonation going on.. nice sour and spicy notes at the edges.. definitely some good components in here.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Optigon (562) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUN 15, 2008
Pours dark gold with a lightly malty aroma. Thinnish mouth feel. Nothing all that exciting about this one.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 heemer77 (4754) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAY 17, 2008
Bottle. Dark gold body with a few lazy bubble creeping up the glass. The thin head is light yellow hay. The aroma is sweet canned peaches with some light caramel. The taste is dry dusty peach skin with some hints of old herbs. Kind of like licking the bottom of an old spice cabinet. Strange, indeed.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 shigadeyo (2394) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2007
12/27/2007: Atwater Mai-Bock Specialty Lager is a hazy golden color and is very active with loads of carbonation. The off-white head errupts out of the glass and produces tons of lasting foam as well as a good amount of foamy lacing. This beer has a sweet, generic beer aroma. The flavor is really, really sweet with some honey and a strong malt presence. Otherwise, it just has a general beer with a slight spicy bitterness in the finish. The alcohol is not overtly present in the flavor (that is a good thing and surprising since this is a fairly cheap 7.5% alcohol beer). The body of this beer is medium-light, but not fizzy on the palate. It is sweet and sticky on the lips though. Overall it is not too bad for a Heller Bock.
12 fl. oz. bottle (7.5% Alc. By Vol.) from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #25 for this beer...
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tmoney99 (6892) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 8, 2007
Bottle from Party Town. Poured a hazy amber with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Average sour citrus aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet malt flavor with a medium fruity sweet finish of average duration.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jgb9348 (3371) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 25, 2007
Hazy golden coloured body with a very dense slightly off-white head and a billion bubbles rising from the sides of the glass. Aroma of fresh malt, lemons, nuts, candy corn and a bit of apple cider vinegar. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour with a big bunch of wheat and musty german (low a.a.) hops comes quick after the sip. Aftertaste shows more mellow characteristics: some lemons, nuts and a mild sweetness fades to pale malt. Overall, a decent beer - a bit strange and strong up front...but give it a bit of time and it shows more. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 25 October 2007.
