Bottle from Party Town. Poured a hazy amber with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Average sour citrus aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet malt flavor with a medium fruity sweet finish of average duration.

Pours a transparent golden brass with a spotty-lacing froth of white head. Has a true to style sweet pale malty grainy nose with some noble hop character. Starts with average fullness and some light malty sweetness with a touch of honey sweetness and grassy noble hops before a drier bittersweet finish. Heller bocks aren’t one of my favorite styles, but this does pretty well matching the style guidelines.

Bottle from Capone’s. I love maibocks, and this one was nice. Dark straw pour with 2-finger off-white head, more white than off-white. Aroma of caramelly malt, hopcitrus, and prominant fruit. I got quite a bit of fruit from the aroma and taste here. In addition to the fruity taste, I got caramel malt, hops, and some mild chardonnay notes, with a lingering finish that I found delightful rather than offputting. I liked this one so much I went back and scooped up another case! Except for Jerome Bettis, this is the best thing that ever came out of Detroit.

Bottled, and a serious gusher.. eventually poured slightly hazy medium golden with a towering cap of white head. The aroma picked up bright pine and citrus notes over caramel, toffee, and light cleaner.. overall not bad. The flavor picked up toasted bready notes, lemon zest, and pils-ish malts with herbal, citrus, and piney bitterness rising toward and through the finish.. quite tasty. Medium-bodied with way too much carbonation going on.. nice sour and spicy notes at the edges.. definitely some good components in here.

The body’s a dull orange and it’s capped by a modest but well sustained head. The aroma and flavor are dominated by a worty sweetness with touches of caramel and a light earthy hopping that tries to temper it. The finish is sweet and has a last minute hit of lemon. Not too bad.

Bottle. Dark gold body with a few lazy bubble creeping up the glass. The thin head is light yellow hay. The aroma is sweet canned peaches with some light caramel. The taste is dry dusty peach skin with some hints of old herbs. Kind of like licking the bottom of an old spice cabinet. Strange, indeed.
