Aroma shows earthy mustiness, a hint of grassiness. Body is dry with a light earthy tone ending in an ample bitterness of continental hops. Pours a light golden with a nice rocky head, replete with a handfull of sticky lacing. Only flaw is that is a bit overcarbonated. Nice crisp finish.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2010 Atwater Block Pilsner--1998 12 oz. Bottle. 5.00% ABV. (3.5 / 5.0) Clear, Light Straw Golden Color. Delicate, unique sweet hop character. Crisp malt is nice, but too light. Atwater Pilsner--Crisp, Clean, Consumable. 2009 12 oz. Bottle. 4.70% ABV. 31 IBU’s. (2.0 / 5.0) Beer of the Month Club Selection February, 2009. Foamy bottle foreshadows huge foamy mild lace white head. Light haze bright rich gold color. Fruity mild hop front. Fizzy dry sweet tangy sour citrus crisp Pils body. Dry citrus spice end. Sour sediment. Aged poorly, but bottled poorly too. Sampled 5/1/2010.

Cloudy golden liquid topped by a gigantic white mountainous foam that follows a gusher. A gushing pilsner? That’s a feature even Breughel has not accomplished yet. Anyways... without the borderline ridiculous overcarbonation that follows in mouth, it could have been pretty solid as the noble hops bring forward nice herbal undertones and the gentle maltiness is clean, crackery and relatively dry. Its dryness is intertwined with mineral, sandy suggestions. Even upfront, the gazyness affects the taste negatively, limiting the other component’s deployment and enhancing the thinness. I guess it could be good on tap, but the bottling seems to have quality control issues.

Pours a clear and sparkling straw color with a long-lasting meringue-like head. The nose is almost non-existent; it’s likely muted because of the head. The palate is light, effervescent with a lasting finish. The taste is sweet and doughy with a mildly bitter grassy hop finish. I found this pilsner not to be too bad. Interesting and drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a fairly clear gold with a foamy head of about a finger. Aromas are bready with a little bit of grass and apple juice. Flavor is pretty grainy with a familiar apple juice taste mixed in and that hint of grassy hops in the finish. Nothing earth-shattering or to terribly interesting, but solid enough.

12 oz bottle. Opens with a hiss and pours gold with a huge white head that means it takes a while to finish pouring, but that might be due to using this new pilsener glass. Aroma of biscuity malts and some red apple. Flavor is biscuity, a bit stale, with a mild bitter hop presence. A rather tame pilsener with some off flavors and aromas.

Tap at Barcade. Slightly hazy, pale golden pour with a tight creamy white head. The nose is quite clean with some crackery malt character. Fairly clean and fresh with a nice herbal hop character. Lightly floral with a touch of zestiness. It’s actually a pretty nice pilsner.

Tap at Barcade: Hazy golden with a white film that retains well. The aroma has a wafery/crackery pils presence with very little hop character- mainly pale grains. Light crisp body- fairly clean. Dry with some sulfuric notes and earthy pils character. Seems more like the Czech style pilsners with a flowery hop presence on the back. Not bad, could be more crisp and dry.
