COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our version of India Pale Ale. Brewed with European Malts and Northwest Hops and then generously Dry Hopped with Cascade Hops for a nice citrus finish. Truly a Salvation for all Hop Heads!

12 oz. Hazy, pale orange-gold with a leaping-out-of-the bottle foam that settles to a lasting thick meringue. Aroma is spicy yeast, apples, honey and lemon. The taste is the same, with some funky bubblegum and woody-peppery hops to bitter. If this were a Saison or maybe even a Wit, I would give it higher marks and it would be in the 3.5 range, as it doesn’t taste bad at all. But since I opened this expecting a nice IPA and they labeled this an IPA, I can say without a doubt this is the worst IPA I have ever had. Maybe they bottled the wrong stuff??? Really smells and tastes like a Saison.

This is what i would call a beginier IPA or an IPA for those who don’t want to have a real IPA. It is more and American Pale Ale than a full blown IPA.

Light body. Smells better than it tastes. Strong hops with a floral twist. Just not balance to much like drinking perfume.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2009 12oz botle-A light orangish body with a small tight white head and an aroma of butterscotch, malt, caramel, and no hops. Taste of malt, butterscotch, and finishes dry. This also has a funky taste that can’t be described. Not much of an IPA. This is not a salvation for hop heads more like a liquid version of a candy butterscotch.

Butterscotch is strong in the nose with underlying grapefruit and floral hoppiness. Clear, deep bolde body is topped by a decent and lasting fine bubbled head that leaves some nice lace. Caramel malt, citrus and floral hop flavours are rounded out by light butterscotch. Some toasty malt character is notable especially in the lingering sweet aftertaste. Medium light body with strong soft-bubbled effervescence. Bottle sampled at a tasting chez MartinT after the qualifying session for Grand Prix 2008.

bottle. Clear light orange-copper-ish color, decent white head with fair amounts of lacing. Smells of sweet toasted nuts, light floral and lemon notes. Flavor consists mostly of too-sweet malty backbone fighting with some sharp lemon-ish hoppiness. Light on the bitterness, with a sweet slick finish on the palate. Not too bad, but not too good, either.

MartinT (7746) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 10, 2008
My Bottom Line:
Spicy grapefruit-like hoppiness surfs on lean honeyed cereals before a timid buttery smirk surfaces in this drinkable but slightly awkward India Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam dwindles into the shiny pale bronze.
-A pleasant peppery, spicy bitterness lingers nicely in the finish.
-The grain bill does not seem to contribute to the hops’ efforts much.
-If it weren’t for that butterscotchy character, we might have had a decent IPA here.

Bottles.

(Rating #1740)

Bottle. Amber pour. Large white head. Sticky lacing. Nose is surprisingly malty with spicy hops and caramel. taste is very hoppy. Lots of caramel, strong citrus and spicy hops, soft malt and orange peel. Body is medium with creamy carbonation. Ends with more spicy hops, citrus notes, caramel and a strong flavor of orange peel. Very resinous towards the end as well. Different but good.

Melon, butterscotch, sunny hop aroma. Cloudy, wit-looking beer with a fluffy white head. Label looks like it was peeled from a can of organic peas. Fizzy, kumquat, light diacetyl, lemon pith bitter. Medium light body, mish-mash aftertaste.
