3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle via trade with OhioDad - Pours a dark brown color with a two finger thick light tan head that faded pretty quick. Nice lacing. Aroma is strong coffee. Flavor is mostly vanilla with some coffee and a good bit of bitterness in the background. Light to medium body. Has a slight fizz mouthfeel. A nice vanilla porter. Thanks Scott.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Average fizzy diminishing head atop a dark brown body. Average aroma of roasted malts, coffee and vanilla and a rubbery smell. Moderately sweet flavor and only lightly bitter. Moderately acidic. Light to medium body that is way overcarbonated. The aftertaste is like pencil lead. Average or a little below.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2011 This is a re-rate for me. The aroma is quite sweet with burnt coffee, burnt malt, and vanilla extract. The appearance is dark brown with an average tan head. The flavor has all the elements from the aroma plus a bit of oatmeal. The palate is actually smooth. Overall not great but I drank it so not bad either.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 14, 2007 Black in color. Wow big head, supported itself probably an inch above the rim when poured. Slowly diminished and left a slight lacing. Aroma is bold, a little fruity and malty. Also was the flavor, bursting with sweet chocolate and vanilla. A little sweet. Coffee flavor is evident, but not too much, which is good. This beer literally got better with every sip I took. Well balanced for an interesting overall taste. This is a totally unique flavor to me, and I really enjoyed it. I donít understand how this is rated only 3.1

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
another pleasent beer that earns a lower rating on rate beer than it deserves. This írobustí porter is actually failry mellow with a sweet chocolae and vanilla taste. The flavor of coffee is subtle and complimentary. Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Caponeís, followed by the bottled version. This rating is for the draft, with the bottled rating being a tenth or two lower. The pour is deep blackish with 1-finger brown head. Aroma of huge dark chocolate, vanilla, chocolate syrup, roasty dark malt. Tastes very chocolatey, with some coffee, vanilla, molasses, and cacao powder flavors, and a rich, complex palate. Be aware that the bottled version loses something in the palate heft and complexity, as well as some of the flavor and aroma intensities of the draft version. Iíd drink this beer, bottled or draft, any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
