aroma is smoky and savory. the apearance is jet black with no head to speak of after the pour. flavour reminds me of vanilla coke - add a bit of burnt wood. it is an interesting beer, bonus points for being unlike anything I’ve ever had before, yet not enjoyable enough to consider drinking it again.

Jul 21, 2008 "Thanks" to Joebrew. Black color with a thin head. Light aroma of... green pepper. More green pepper in the flavor. Dry malt finish and a very little bit of vanilla. Great idea, but did not work out at all.

Jul 15, 2008 Sampled at ACBF on 6/20 in Boston and thought it was delicious. I love vanilla and really wanted to like this one. Brewer at the festival was a great guy as well.
Purchased a 6-pack a few weeks later and was all fired up for a great beer. Unfortunately, it kind of fell flat. Pours a deep brown but with a very thin head, which was disappointing. Aroma has strong vanilla (excellent) and coffee notes, as hoped for. It felt a bit over-bittered on my palate. Just tasted a bit off to me. Not horrible (don’t get me wrong, the beer is still very drinkable) but just not as spectacular as I had expected.
I’m going to finish the rest of my 6-pack and see if my opinion changes. I really want to like this one!!

Jul 14, 2008 12oz Bottle: Dark brown w/ a light brown head. Aroma is of stale coffee w/ a nasty metallic note. Guess what? The flavor is of stale coffee too! Watery, metallic stale coffee. I’m piciking up zero vanilla. Christ, I bought one of these & it’s sitting at my place as I write. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it...shit!

Jul 14, 2008 A very dark, beer with a dark brown head. Lots of big bubbles, but not what I’d consider a good looking pour, head or porter. The aroma was nice, coffee mainly. The flavor had a hint of vanilla and some serious coffee flavor. It wasn’t that it lacked flavor, it just seemed watered down somehow.

Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. Dark pour with a strong sweet aroma. Flavor is a little overwhelming, strong sweetness with vanilla and coffee as you might expect. Too sweet for me, but i can see how alot of might really like this one.
