3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with a light brown head mostly dissipating. Nose is malt and coffee. Very creamy on the palate, the taste is coffee and vanilla, slightly sweet but very pleasing. A note of hops at the finish reminds you that this is beer. Very flavorful. Pairs well with pretzels or cheese.

Deep dark brown. Malty aroma with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Coffee dominate the flavor with subtle hints of chocolate and vanilla. Puts you in the mind of an iced coffee, with a mild hop finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12iz bottle shared that poured a dark brown to almost black. Minimal dark head. Initial aroma is imitation vanilla and lots of it with chocolate bars. Got got no coffee on the nose. The flavor was more of the same really not liking this to much. Only coffee comes on the backend and it’s very light. Mostly vanilla and chocolate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer pours a dark brown color with some ruby in it when help up to the light with a medium sized tan head. The aroma vanilla, chocolate, coffee. The aroma is very sweet. The taste is mostly predominated by the vanilla extract. The beer is very sweet and outside of the predominant vanilla flavor you do pick up the chocolate and mild coffee flavor as well. The mouthfeel is light and creamy. It is easy to drink but the vanilla would prevent this from being a session beer for me.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle picked up at Old Town in Louisville. Poured into a shaker pint. Jet black color with huge soapy tan head. Vanilla extract on the nose with a hint of coffee: burned. A little too sweet on the palate and a heavy finish. Burned coffe taste separates from the sweetness, not too pleasant.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2015 12 oz bottle, poured into a shaker. The aroma consists of lots of vanilla bean notes, a light coffee bean note, some chocolate, and grains late. The beer is a dark, nearly opaque mahogany with a tan, soft head. A medium thick ring is retained with a light, fuzzy surface, and a light runny lace on the glass. The taste is a medium sweet with a medium light bitter quality. The beer is slick and thin with a fizzy carbonation. The medium light body contains notes of chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla beans, and caramel late. The finish is gritty and a bit dry with flavors of vanilla and coffee. The aftertaste is brief and cleans up nicely.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma of chocolate and s bit of tobacco (reminded me of Redman chew). Thin head but then I served it a little cold. The taste was a bit like a raw vanilla bean.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured from 12 oz. bottle.
Opaque, brown-black with a 3-finger khaki head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of vanilla, roasted coffee and chocolate.
Taste of chocolate, coffee and vanilla with a little roastiness and a faint, but somewhat unpleasant, buttery finish. A bit sweeter than a porter ought to be.
Medium body and medium/low carbonization.
This reminds me of a macro brewer's attempt to make a craft beer. While I have no objection to the unusual style (vanilla/coffee porter), this seems like a weak example.

Nothing robust about this porter. Thin and boring. Why add extract to a porter anyway? Look out New Belgium, another slick marketeer in the market place.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Appearance is dark brown color with light, beige head. Aroma is slight cocoa and coffee notes but the vanilla presents itself more as the beer warms up. Taste is not as sweet as I expected, bitter cocoa, some coffee with the layer of vanilla coming out as the taste progresses. Smooth mouthfeel but thin almost watery which doesn’t balance the vanilla extract well.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz into a coffee beer glass from magic hat. Pours a solid black. Medium head, white with caramel color, fades fast, moderate lacing. Aroma of chocolate malts, mild vanilla. Taste of more vanilla, dark tinny hop presence. Even keel drinker, not explosive, but decent for a flavored porter. Aftertaste is sweet vanilla, guess the type fits the bill. New year day 2015.
