Bottles and draught at Sunset Grill mid-2008.
Filtered/force carbonated and I’m not sure whether they pasteurize or not. Regardless, these are some truly washed-out, lifeless beers that are no doubt sterile filtered and full of insipidly sweet, artificial flavors and underfermented sugars. Tastes like candy in a bottle. Sweeter than breckenridge vanilla porter and though it advertises java, it’s certainly not a particularly dainty flavor. The vanilla flavor sits heavily on the palate, mixing in with the chocolatey-sweet sugars and coffee is just an afterthought, adding nothing more than sourness. Little to no roastiness, poor balance, watery mouthfeel. They’ve taken the Stoney Creek Vanilla Porter and made it worse.

One of our favorite. Classic go-to for a slightly sweet, not heavy coffee, a hint of cocoa, and asmooth vanilla porter. Easy drinking. Good cold and flavors enhance as it warms.

Drank from a twelve ounce bottle. Amazing aromas of coffee. Definitely a robust porter! Lots of delicious malt, coffee flavors with a hint of vanilla.

Tap at tap house Munich. Black, low brown head. Milk chocolate nose. Vanilla, coffee, roast, brown sugar flavor. Light body, mellow mouthfeel. Feels fresh despite the desert flavors.

Beerenberger (1445) - Fischer, Texas, USA - AUG 28, 2014
Nose of vanilla, chocolate with hints of coffee. A solid black-brown pour with a thin khaki head and no lacing. Vanilla pounces on the tongue and doesn’t leave much room for anything else. Coffee, hints of chocolate, and cola. Medium-light body with modest carbonation. Overall, a politely sweet porter but definately not a "robust porter". Ok, but nothing outstanding.

12oz bottle from The Beer Shoppe (Ardmore PA). Pours a clear thin dark brown color with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of tootsie rolls, light roasted coffee, and vanilla. Taste of sour bitter coffee, bad chocolate, vanilla extract, and roasted malt.

Bottled, black with almost no head. Smelled like coffee and baked beans. Tastes like burnt baked beans, roasty, cocoa. Not a fan.
