Bottles and draught at Sunset Grill mid-2008.
Filtered/force carbonated and I’m not sure whether they pasteurize or not. Regardless, these are some truly washed-out, lifeless beers that are no doubt sterile filtered and full of insipidly sweet, artificial flavors and underfermented sugars. Tastes like candy in a bottle. Sweeter than breckenridge vanilla porter and though it advertises java, it’s certainly not a particularly dainty flavor. The vanilla flavor sits heavily on the palate, mixing in with the chocolatey-sweet sugars and coffee is just an afterthought, adding nothing more than sourness. Little to no roastiness, poor balance, watery mouthfeel. They’ve taken the Stoney Creek Vanilla Porter and made it worse.

Very dark ruby-brown color topped by a foamy off-white head. Aroma of roasted barley, coffee, cherry and vanilla extracts. Mild roast flavors with very little in the way of coffee or vanilla. A slight tart cherry note in the finish and some faint bittersweet chocolate. Lacking in flavor and body, I wouldn’t have it again.

Dark brown/amber with a large, aggressive tan head that settled to a holf inch. Hoppy, cherry and coffee aroma. Thin, carbonated mouthfeel with slight bitter finish. Coffee with some sweetness, but overall a bit weak in flavor. OK, but nothing special.

In the bottle. Explosive dark beige head that shot about half of the beer on the floor. Sour milk aroma. Very acidic and tart flavor masks everything else except for a small finishing coffee taste. A drain pour, actually. I’m pretty certain that it is not supposed to be this bad. I suspect a bad batch.

Bottle. Dark amber-black with almost nonexistent head. Aroma of candy cherry and vanilla, sense almost no coffee. Taste like artificial cherry and vanilla, slight coffee bite, off-putting. I have no idea what they were going for here, whatever it was they missed it big time.

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: murky light brown with medium sized mid dark tan on top .
Nose: rough , even bit wild , raspberry , spice , candi , hint of chocolate.
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied. Follow up of what aroma offered. Wild roast with fruity flavours , berry sweets on side , sugary with some of brown malt. Slight hint of processed vanilla. In short bad brew.

12oz bottle from total wine in greenville. pours a dark, cola-brown with a thin, tan head and decent lacing. aroma is a bit odd with slight coffee and chocolate notes that are overshadowed by artificial vanilla and cherry scents. flavor follows the odd aroma with sweet, artificial vanilla, cherry, and raspberry notes completely overshadowing the hints of roast coffee, dark malts, and chocolate on the finish. palate is on the thin side of medium bodied with light carbonation. overall, a pretty disappointing brew.

Pours a deep black with a tan head. A definite expresso taste with a hint of vanilla. Normally I would love this combination, but something about this beer did not work. The taste were a little harse and did not blend together. I was really disappointed in this beer.
