Bottle. The pour was murky and almost black in color with a large (2-3 finger) light brown creamy head that had decent retention, reducing slowly to a thin cap with some good streaky lacing. The aroma was a lot like french vanilla coffee with some roasted chocolate malts and a sweet yeast and had notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and dark roasted coffee. The taste was lightly sweet and a bit bitter with hints of vanilla and dark chocolate from the onset with the finish having a more pronounced bitter coffee taste. The flavor hung around for an average duration after the swallow and had a mild bitter sweet coffee ending. Mouthfeel was a few shades above medium in body and a tad oily in texture with a good strong carbonation. Overall a Coffee Porter that has a lot more vanilla in the aroma than in the taste, but all in all it was a nice smooth tasty brew...

Pours a deep brown with a khaki colored head. Not a whole lot of aroma a little vanilla and chocolate. Taste of coffee and vanilla and chocolate. Thin pallet. Overall decent flavor Porter little above average.

Deep brown with a cream head. Nose is vanilla, coffee, vanilla extract, and chocolate. Easy palate, vanilla extract, coffee, thin, and an easy finish.

This porter poured a deep black colour with a rocky, tan coloured head. Scents include vanilla, caramel and a little coffee. First swig had a little watery mouthfeel but the flavour of vanilla, cocoa, coffee and roast made up for that. Finish is roasty and sweet with roasted vanilla flavours lingering.

Bottle. Pours a solid dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt and noticeable vanilla. Flavor is chocolate, malt, mild coffee, and vanilla. There is a real cola feel to this with the sweetness and body which is most noticeable on the finish. Very thin body with medium carbonation which is amplified by the lack of depth and body. Very sweet porter. I like the presence of vanilla here but this really feels more like a soda than anything else.

it does get props for having vanilla in taste and aroma, but feels gimmicky; more soda like drink than beer - thin side; meh.

"dark brown with a tan head. aroma is a little weak. watery roasted malt and vanilla, with a hint of roasted coffee. palate a little weak as well. leaning more towards a brown ale. needs to be more robust. the flavor is pleasant, but nothing too special. lots of vanilla. a little coffee at first...lots in the finish. good, but no depth. i’ll give it an 8...realy more like a 7.4-7.5, but a 3.3 overallis fair. just an ok beer. running out of trade beers from Lou. Frick!"

Thanks to KenW. Such an incredibly slippery palate. Thinner than many porters too. Serving: Bottle

One of our favorite. Classic go-to for a slightly sweet, not heavy coffee, a hint of cocoa, and asmooth vanilla porter. Easy drinking. Good cold and flavors enhance as it warms.
