It pours a dark brown with hints of transparency when held to the light and a half inch off-white head with decent retention. The flavor starts with caramel and toffee. The finish has some light fruit, roastiness, and a hint of coffee. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Probably one of Atwater’s better options in a bottle. radioseer (126), Virginia, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 7, 2010 Dark mahogany color beneath a thick light brown head. Aroma of caramel malts and dark fruits. Taste of cola and some tart dark fruits, a little bit of malt nuttiness. Too much tartness/sourness, not sure if its the early stages of an infection but doesn’t belong in this style of beer. tzakiel (64), Virginia, USA

After drinking a better dopplebock, this one was a bit of a let down. It’s not bad, there is some complexity there but not enough. Not something I will buy again. douglas88 (1753), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Dec 24, 2009 Pours with a massive and uncontrollable head off white head. Dark. Smells of sour fruits and root. Sour on the tongue not unlike many belgian brews. Nothing like your typical doppelbock. Too sour for me... didnt finish it.
