This is a dopplebock high-gravity lager. This one is big, black and sweet. It’s malty character is derived from two caramel malts along with Munich malt to create the smoothest high-gravity beer this side of the pond.

Pours almost black, with a tan head that rings the glass. Nice malty aroma that carries to the nutty maltiness in the taste. Nice mouth feel, easy after taste. Not a bad beer! Never got the 9% taste I expected.

Nearly black, just a hint of violet in the head. Caramel and licorice hit the nose, then a huge flavor combination of roasted grain, sweet bread, and chocolate pudding. Body turns thin in the finish. Overall missing that classic spice note and more subdued roasted malt. Doesn’t match up to the Kulminator or Korbinian...

Bottle from Sean - thanks! Dark brown pour with a tan head. Heavy sweet malt, light spice, dough, and cinnamon in the aroma. Taste is sweet malt and sugary spice with an oddly flavorless finish. Lightly coating mouthfeel. Okay.

In bottle. Chocolate and caramel nose, medium off white head. Body is medium to dark brown. Light body, roasty, nutty flavors, some chocolate. Good beer.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Tasted more like a strong brown ale than a dopplebock. Could have been stronger in taste in alcohol, as the name ’voodoo’ would imply. I guess I’m disappointed.

(bottle) pours a deepest brown colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of heavy raisins and brown sugar, with lots of kiwi and some sugar icing. flavour is mostly brown sugar and lightly roasted malts, with a hint of walnuts and a pronounced peachy fruitiness. medium to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Pretty weak overall, appearance is the only thing going for this beer. Not , much in terms of nose, flavor or palate. Hints of copper and raisin. Decanted into a mug from 12 oz bottle. Not much going on....pass.

Dark brown, a little deeper than most ive had for its style. Adds more choclate flavors akin to a porter, balancing out a little of the bready richness. Average.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark, dark brown with ruby hues. There is a thin white-ish head that leaves spotty lace down the side of the glass. The aroma is very sweet. There's a lot of caramel and malt, but it's not overly complex. The flavor is a pretty similar fashion. A sweet caramel and maltiness. It's pretty thin, so it leaves a little to be desired in the mouth feel, but overall it's pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
