COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a dopplebock high-gravity lager. This one is big, black and sweet. It’s malty character is derived from two caramel malts along with Munich malt to create the smoothest high-gravity beer this side of the pond.

Pours a dark almost clear brown with thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweetness, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor matches well, but just doesn’t have the balance of a great doppelbock. Drinkable, but forgettable...if it wasn’t for the label, which is really cool.

I really liked this! My first dopplebock. A new fav. Nice coffee notes, deep dark color, but not too heavy.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear deep brown with a dense head that gradually drops to a thick cover, wide bands of lace. Taste is roasted caramel malt that glides effortlessly through the palate to a lightly bittered finish. In one sense, simple, but it is well done and quite tasty. It also hides the 9% abv so well that it is a bit dangerous. Recommended.

From bottle. Dark dark red, almost black. No head. No lacing. Aroma of plums and dark fruits. Taste the same, some caramel and nice maltiness. Sweet. A bit flat. No noticeable hops.

Big dark and malty. Caramel, toffee, dark fruit and spice. Hides the alcohol well.

Pours almost black, with a tan head that rings the glass. Nice malty aroma that carries to the nutty maltiness in the taste. Nice mouth feel, easy after taste. Not a bad beer! Never got the 9% taste I expected.

Nearly black, just a hint of violet in the head. Caramel and licorice hit the nose, then a huge flavor combination of roasted grain, sweet bread, and chocolate pudding. Body turns thin in the finish. Overall missing that classic spice note and more subdued roasted malt. Doesn’t match up to the Kulminator or Korbinian...

Bottle from Sean - thanks! Dark brown pour with a tan head. Heavy sweet malt, light spice, dough, and cinnamon in the aroma. Taste is sweet malt and sugary spice with an oddly flavorless finish. Lightly coating mouthfeel. Okay.

In bottle. Chocolate and caramel nose, medium off white head. Body is medium to dark brown. Light body, roasty, nutty flavors, some chocolate. Good beer.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Tasted more like a strong brown ale than a dopplebock. Could have been stronger in taste in alcohol, as the name ’voodoo’ would imply. I guess I’m disappointed.
