2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jmcgavin12 (165) - Madison, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Pours dark amber with a caramel clementine aroma. Taste is very malty with almost a sickly sweet flavor. Not my favorite beer but cheap and decent
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ericular (227) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 5, 2013
Pours a clear deep orange with good head reducing to a thin film with good lacing. Aroma is butter, a little chocolate and molasses, and some fresh apple. Taste is malt, dark breads, and finishes with cloying spiciness. It grew on me and I finished it no problem, but the taste and palate just wasn’t enough to make it stand out as a go-to winter warmer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 superspak (1473) - Michigan, USA - FEB 12, 2013
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 11/2012. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, earth, and light spicy alcohol. Pretty nice and pleasant aromas with solid balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, pepper, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Pretty nice flavor balance and robustness, with solid complexity; with slight cloying spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good doppelbock. Solid flavor balance and complexity; and quite smooth to sip on. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 johnnyoski (359) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Bottle. Pours a brown-orange color with a small off white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with a hint of winter spices. Flavor is what you would expect from the aroma with a big malty body. Finishes with a stange medicinal taste that lingers. Dry texture and average carbonation. Decent, but a step below some other local Winter bocks.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Onslow (923) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Six pack from Hardings. Pour from a 12 oz bottle. clear brown brew with small creamy white head. Aroma of some caramel and toffee, a little grass or spice. Taste is moderately sweet malt at the start slaked by astringent hops at the end of the swallow. Fairly dry finish with just a little of the caramel hanging on. I was worried this would be too sweet, but rather is just full bodied. Very enjoyable brew

Drank from the bottle at a family gathering. This was better than I expected. Nice job with malty sweetness without tasting syrupy or too heavy; hint of caramel, toffee. I wouldn’t turn down another one.
