Bottle consumed at the brewery in August 2014: Orangish golden. Uniform white head exhibits good retention. Rustic aroma, with licorice-like hops, fallen leaves, sherbet, hay, earthy malt, and underlying phenolics and cotton candy. Soft and snug carbonation. Lusciously hoppy yet dryly malty, up front, with succulent peachy esters trailing. Exemplary malt development, and deceptively deep, with feathery and lightweight hay, cookie and firm crackery dimensions pervading the palate. Understated gum notes fluff up the delicate maltiness at the core. Hops are richly marmaladey in their juiciness and are chased by the flavorsome "bounce" of honey-dabbed hay and polished fruity esters which linger. A triple-esque rendition that’s terroir-driven and ultimately quite lovely.

Une belle bière ambrée avec un nez épicé et une bouche ample et soyeuse, très belle équilibre d’ensemble sur une finale épicée.

First time drinking anything from this abbey, and my first French abbey beer, so I wasn’t 100% what to expect, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The aroma was what was most interesting, as it definitely had a "skunky" (and not skunky as in old or past it’s time, skunky as in the kind you smoke) edge to it. Maybe that’s why we killed the bottle relatively quickly!

0,75l bottle @ One Pint Pub. Pours hazy golden with a low head. Aroma is hops and lemongrass. Flavor is earthy malts, stables and some hops. Now this is a farmhouse ale!

750ml bottle from Au Baron in Gussignies. The first try, at the cafe, was muddy and yeasty and un-rateable, the fault of the servers glugging the hell out of the bottle while pouring. The second try finally gave us a good impression of the beer. Hazed amber with a fine white head. A combination of fruity esters (apple skin, banana, pear) and airy / dusty yeast in the nose. Medium body, sweet with low bitterness and medium acid. Juicy malt sugar with creamy texture from the suspended yeast. Rustic and bright, sweet and savory.

Murky light amber body and bubbly head. Belgian appeal, red fruity malts and yeast, light spice, biscuity malts too. Layered but also unfortunately a bit too sweet. Taste is in the same vain, a bit too sweet and simplistic in the aftertaste. It?s okay, not as rich as expected. (75cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Hazy deep golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrus and malts. Malty flavour, citrus, quite sweet, light hops. Malty finish, hops.
(from 75cL bottle @ RBBWG III, Gent. Thanks for sharing, Seba!)
