Imaena (160), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 24, 2008 Draught @ Mondial 08’. Amber and cloudy. Tart and grassy. Hopped abundantly. Interesting IPa all around. Radek Kliber (3278), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2008 On tap at Mondial 2008
Appearance: Lightly hazed amber ale with dense , average fizzy top.3-. Nose Light ,aromatic , ordinary clean hop with sweet juicy malt.7- Flavor/Palate : Grainy , citric hop with gentle woody accents. Old, proven straightforward formula . No accidents here just quiet ordinary.
VeloVampire (374), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 18, 2008 341 ml bottle, courtesy of my brother: pours a slightly hazy copper with some floaters and a very solid white head that retains well and leaves nice lacing. Aroma dominated by spiciness, citrus, some mango, a bit of bready yeast, and a hint of booze. Flavour a bit dissapointing compared to the aroma - slightly metallic. Malt body is thin and the hops are too bitter and not well integrated. Bitterness dominates the flavour, without much else complexity. Good, not great. Shag (1750), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 12, 2008 A murky orange/brown appearance on this one. The aroma consists of citrus, brown sugar, and some dark fruits lurking. The flavor is slightly bitter with some lemons, caramel, and brown sugar. A different twist on IPA. Overall pretty good. ChainGangGuy (1444), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA May 11, 2008 Appearance: Pours an orangey-amber body with a medium-sized, frothy, short-lived, white head.
Smell: Gentle wafts of perfume and a bit citric-smelling, but beyond that it’s kinda mild.
Taste: Slight butterscotch taste with a mild sweetness. Lightly citric lemon candy taste. Mild hop bitterness. Spray of flowery perfume near the otherwise clean, mild finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A little different and certainly lacks the ’punch’ of standard American IPA’s, but it’s alright for being a reasonably tasty, well-balanced ale.
