robinvboyer (1007), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 14, 2008 pours a very dark amber almost brown. Interesting aroma of dark caramel malt, and some corriander, and pine. Flavour is actually quite woody, and piney, with an odd aftertaste of kosher dill pickles, and is quite bitter in the finish. Wow, this is odd. I"m not liking this.
DougShoemaker (2560), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 19, 2008 Malty aroma, caramel and a hint of toast, deep copper, small, firm, long lasting toffee head, some lace. Flavour is woody, nutty, roasted malts, some pitfruit. Medium bodied, very well balanced, quite bitter. Very nice example. blankboy (2570), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-mahogany with an average size diminishing white head. Mild yet somewhat pleasant aroma of caramel malt, peas (!), nuts and light hops. Peas? Weird. it kind of works though. Surprisingly good flavour of caramel malt, nuts, fruit, light floral hops and a decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. I was not expecting much from this beer but it was actually pretty good and one of AMB’s finer efforts. Boutip (1769), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Dec 12, 2007 Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color alt with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of huge caramel malt with some medium sweetness is quite enjoyable. Taste is dominated by some huge caramel malt with some notes of nuts and a light hoppy finish. Full body with some average carbonation. Definitely the best thing I have had from this somewhat inconsistent brewery.
