beerbuzzmontreal (2701), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 15, 2007 Sampled on tap at le Saint-Bock. Pours a black color with brown highlights and a ring of light brown lace. Aroma of chocolate with mild roasted malt. Good flavor of roasted and smoked malt with chocolate and a mild bitter finish. The body is medium to full with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. Nicely done. Miguel (1181), Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Canada Oct 28, 2006 Robe noire surmontée d’une mousse brune épaisse. Arômes acides de café. Saveurs onctueuses de café et de caramel. HogTownHarry (3200), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 11, 2007 Bottle (341ml). Shared with blankboy, my bottle via trade with Viper666. opaque black with an average frothy brown head. Bitter, earthy roast malt aroma - woodsmoke, peat (almost iodine), balanced out by some soft herbal hops - the roast character is ultimately a little generic. Dry, VERY bitter smoked meat taste, quite a bit of roast grain and somewhat sharp peppery yeast in the finish. Average body, no much carbonation present, mildly astringent with a very dark roasty finish. Not bad at all - simple, a tad light in the body, but the smoke and the yeast make it stand out a bit. Boutip (1769), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada May 1, 2008 Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with an average off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt with some very light coffee notes. Taste is also dominated by some medium roasted malt notes with some light coffee and a medium bitter finish. Body is a bit thin for the style with some good carbonation. I thought it was well balance dry stout maybe slightly lacking in character.
