Drank with Pyrozoid. Pitch black poor with a thin beige bubbly head. Aromas of coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate, burnt toast and creme brule. Sweet, tangy, creamy, tartish mouthfeel. Nice longlasting bitterness. Medium bodied. Roasted malts, bitter chocolate, light roasted coffee twist and a hint of tobacco. Not bad...

Grainy porter that gets tiresome as it warms.
I like:
Solid off-white head. Gentle milk chocolate tones.
I dislike:
Rather husky malt character, strong graininess, more astringence than I’d like, yet not from the hops. Kinda green in its beany roastiness as well and this does not fit a black beer. Simple flavour evolution, not reaching towards the delicious kingdom of fruitiness, instead straying in graininess, long-lasting dry teabad finish.

Aug 10, 2008 Bottle - 341ml. Opaque black body with low carbonation and a thin beige creamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very strong hoppy/roasty taste. It is almost too agressive and it leaves a harsh roasty/sodium aftertaste. Not bad, but it could be better balanced.

Jul 20, 2008 A very drinkable porter because it was a baltic that wasn’t. Jet black with initial white head. Easy drinking creamy mouthfeel. Malty with only a hint of sourness. Chocolate malts, maybe even some oatmeal. Soda and malt aroma.

Jul 17, 2008 Bouteille de 341 ml achetée chez La Barik (Trois-Rivières, QC). Arôme: Odeur de chocolat noire avec une pointe de petits fruits. Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque avec une faible densité de bulle. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de chocolat légèrement amer avec une pointe de café et d’houblons. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement minérale. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence de chocolat amer en arrière goût. (Rating #1823)
