After reading the other comments I believe my bottle is infected. Pours a reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is vineagar and mild fruits. Taste is sour balsamic vineagar with some fruity character. No malt character at all. Might pick up another bottle and try again.

500ml bottle. Backlog time - rated 2010-03-19. Slightly hazy amber pour with a diminishing foamy tan head. Initially the aroma was a bit "off" - sour, lemony, but it settled to a nice mix of grassy, yeasty and sweet light roast caramel. Tasted a tad hot/boozy at first, but that settled down to a nice pungent "sweaty" tang (herbal, alcoholic, funky yeast) - surprisingly bitter, but not off-putting - reminded me a bit of a watered-down DdC Rigor Mortis ABT. Disappointingly weak of body, almost stingingly carbonated with a medium-long boozy, lightly pungent/bitter finish. Not memorable.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2011 The brew pours dark mahogany with a lot of tiny sediment floating around. There is a big foamy tan head on top as well. The aroma is sweet and malty. The flavor is the same - a big malt bomb with the sweetness of a barleywine, but there is no bite from the ABV. This does not reflect the flavor of the yeast from this style normally at all. * With a year and a half age, there is no malty sweetness, more like flavors of light lemon sweet tart notes.

Le liquide est brun. Aucune construction mousseuse.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy brown color ale with a quite large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar with some dry fruit notes and a nice mildly sweet caramel malt backbone. Taste is not the most complex but light candi sugar notes are well mix with some notes of dry fruits and lightly fruity ester. Body is fuller then expected with loads of caramel malt and some good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Slightly below average for style but a whole lot better then some of the crap I have tasted from this brewer.

Pours a clear brown color with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet, nutty, there’s also caramel and chocolate. The flavor is ok, there’s nuts, caramel, chocolate, sweetness is the dominance here, the after-taste has some cigarette ashes. There’s not much of a belgian character here though. The body is medium with a slightly oily and vinous texture, the carbonation is soft. Not bad.

Bottle - 500ml. Dark brown body with a fair beige frothu head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with woody and brown sugar hints. Taste is dominated by sweet and hoppy flavors. Ends with a warming bittersweet finish. Good effort.

Bouteille 500ml.
