3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4436) - Toronto, - AUG 10, 2010
My bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- c/o Fred82. Pours a slightly hazy gold with an average size mostly-lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, herbs & spices and floral hops -- smells on style. Flavour of Belgian yeast, floral hops, light herbs & spices, fruit and some light alcohol. Medium bodied. Pretty good.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 9, 2011
A hazed amber ale with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, smooth lightly spiced caramel malt with a bit of curacao, not bad. In mouth, a smooth hopped malt with coriander, creamy malt, herbal hops, still nice, 1 year old. 5.69$ for a 750 ml.

500ml bottle shared by blankboy with me and biegaman. Bottom-of-bottle pour - cloudy yellow-orange with an average off-white head. Pungent floral bitter aroma, orange zest, dry spicy yeast. Taste is a little soapy, VERY pungent and floral, hardly any alcohol, but dry. Thick, chewy, slightly astringent mouthfeel, light carbonation, longish dry floral finish - really good.

Bottle - 500ml. Hazy amber body with a thick, lasting, off-white foamy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with malty and fruity (citrusy, grapefruit) hints. Taste is dominated by hoppiness and carries some woody and coriander notes. Ends with a sharp hoppy/herbal finish. Well done.

Belgian yeast aroma from the start this was grainy and super sweet to taste. Clear ruby color with a nice lacing head. Had a dry spiced finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rastacouere (5919) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 30, 2010
The ivory white foam gently fades from the dull cloudy amber hue. Sugary, banana-pineapple, rather tropical fruity nose where orangey citric hops with a fair herbal twist try to provide a sense of balance. Butter and caramel meet in this toasty, sweet ale in which the growing alcohol greatly hampers the drinkability. Juicy palate where apricot and peaches notion detract from the otherwise audacious hop profile. It must have been more interesting 2 or 3 months ago, but at 8.5%, it should have held up. Talking about its 8.5%, the strong alcohol and general sweetness from its darker, toastier malts remove a lot from the strong hopping rates interest. A bit muddled, greasy, lacking in carbonation vivacity and too sweet to showcase the freshness that I’m looking for in hoppy ales.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 27, 2010
My Bottom Line:
Flowery and orange-like hops thrive around this Belgian-style Strong Ale’s doughy yeast, as levelled herbal bitterness and mild alcohol warmth conclude each sip.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A towering, compact head of foam bobs atop the misty amber.
-The juicy mouthfeel (with very soft carbonation) is not that Belgian.
-There are enough hops to counterbalance the prevalent yeastiness.
-This isn’t very complex, but it is quite drinkable for its strength.
-Bready malt sweetness balances out the supposedly assertive hop signature.
-This may not have been the freshest bottle, if I rely on other ratings. Then again, it can’t be that old either...
Bottle.

Hazy peach colour. Floral, spicy, yeasty aroma. Soft body has mellow sugars, soft florals and light fruits. Some paint thinner, but only an accent.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 28, 2010
Bottle at LS X. Dark orange pour with a white head. Has a sweet, herbal, floral aroma. Starts out a bit sweet and grainy, has a light Belgian yeast spice and fruitiness to it, and finishes lightly bitter and floral. Nice, but something about this didn’t really mesh for me.
