Apparence brun tres foncé qui tire vers le noir avec une petite mousse crémeuse brun clair. Aromes de chocolat, un peu de vanille, pois chiche avec le classique malte chocolat et malt rotie fraichement moulu. Gout astringent mais qui tourne rapidement vers une belle amertume de courte duré. Moyen en bouche avec un peu plus d’effervescence que prévue. Gout de pois chiche reviens, cafe et le cacao... Manque un petit coté sucré par contre.

In short: A thin and dirty/earthy coffee stout with many problems. Bad.
How: Bottle 341ml. Consumed fresh a month or two after the beer release
The look: Almost black body topped by a little tan ring of foam
In long: Nose is roasted and peaty. Body is thin and feels “dirty”. Taste is roasted coffee beans in dirty water, green peas, refried beans, peat, wood coal, old coffee filter. Pretty bad. Named after the trendy area of Montreal. The type of area where people will happily buy crappy products if they are named and packaged properly. Coincidence?

Bouteille de 341ml. Bière noire opaque, sans mousse. Peu torréfié au nez, pas de café non plus. Passablement mince en bouche, peu de torréfaction. On cherche le café. ordinaire mais rafraichissante.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur brune très foncée et quasi-opaque. Nez de malt assez rôti, de café, léger de chocolat noir avec des notes d’épices (poivre) ainsi que des traces de fumée de bois et de piments piquants. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Faibles notes de vanille avec des traces d’épices (poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût moyennement amer de malt assez rôti et légèrement sucré (faibles notes de brûlé) ainsi qu’un léger goût de chocolat noir. Parallèlement, un goût de café se développe pour devenir plus dominant en finale, où l’on y retrouve également des notes de noix grillées et des traces de fumée de bois. Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, moyennement amer de rôti, de café et léger de chocolat noir.

Dégusté avec french tickler. Bière de couleur noir avec un collet presque absent. Odeur de cendre, chocolat, orange, pomme verte, noix et café. Gout de café bruler, très sec, semblant de craie.

Bottle I brought to Andy’s tasting. On the recommendation of the remarkably friendly and knowledgeable guy working at Bonisoir Peluso, I picked up a bottle of this. Coffee stout brewed exclusively for them, and probably available only at the store. Pours a deep brownish black with a bit of a tan head. Aromas are interesting. First thing that popped out at me was jalapeno, followed by bitter coffee, and roast. Light bodied, with a nice bitter coffee flavor coming through. Finish lightly bitter, with again a bit of the jalapeno coming back in. Tasty and different.

Bottle: Brown pour with a dense tan film of head. Unique aroma- peppery with evident coffee roast- fresh dark crystal notes along with cocoa. Nice fluffy texture. The flavor has a nice blend of robust clean malts and smooth coffee- cocoa notes. Remains dry with light husk. The coffee is there but doesn’t dominate. A balanced coffee stout with malt nuance.

Bottle shared by Jay. Chili pepper, dark chocolate aroma, spicy, rich, flavorful in the nose. Flavor is fairly thin and disappointing after the nose, minor, mild, vegetal, German malt-sweet and bitterish stouty flavor. A touch thin, milky. Interesting.
