3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (5136) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 25, 2007
Bottle courtesy of Viper666. Poured what I initially thought was a flat cloudy orange-copper, but then it got bubbly and formed a small diminishing white head. Mild aroma starts grainy followed by light hops, sweet malt and some fruit -- it’s O.K. but it’s not terribly exciting. Flavour’s hoppier then the aroma suggested but a little flat and watery, it consists of resiny hops, sweet malt and a moderate bitter finish. Average bodied. Better then many other Quebec micros but I still found it mediocre -- more aroma and a less watery flavour and it would be very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3490) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 28, 2007
Sampled on tap at Vices & Versa. Pours a murky caramel color with a thin white head. Aroma of spicy, resinous hops with toasted malt. The flavor has a nice balance of toasted malt and spicy, resinous hops, there is also some caramel and it finishes with bitterness. The body is light to medium and the carbonation level is medium. A well-done, well-balanced IPA.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 probstblueribbon (2378) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 27, 2006
341 mL bottle from Montreal, shared with brothers. App.: orangey-copper, minimal off-white head. Aroma: estery sweetness (cotton candy), toffee/caramel, dried fruits, lots of "malty smells". A hint of citrusy hops. Palate: very soft carbonation, med. bodied. Flav.: sweet maltiness (like the nose), a hint of sweetness, decent bitterness. I would have liked a little more dry-hopping, but still good!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jercraigs (6475) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 24, 2006
Bottle. Amber body has little head at first but a vigourous pour yields a good sized fluffy white head. Aroma of an emptied grain bag, moderate resin is thick in the aroma of hops. Flavour is dominated by sweet caramel malt with a fair does of resin that is initially subtle but spreads out across the back of the tongue marking territory and hanging on well into the finish and aftertaste. Resin is the dominant hop note, bitterness is moderate, coming out more in the end. The blend of the caramel and resin borders on heavy, could use some more hop citrus to lighten it up. Average palate. Pleasant but lacks something to take it to the next level.

Juicy citrus and pine along with some caramel in the nose. Hazy burnished orange-copper coloured body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes to a partial cover. Citrus and pine hops are obvious in the flavour though underlying malt character offers little other than caramel. Moderate finishing bitterness. Medium body with decent carbonation. Somewhat unexciting but very drinkable. Sampled on tap (Benelux or Vices et Versa?).

Bottle (341ml). Via trade with MrAlain. Hazy copper with a small bubbly head. Nutty roast malt aroma, alcohol and herbal hops - simple but very well done. Tastes of grassy hops, quite bitter, increasingly bitter actually - the malt profile is fairly weak and the alcohol not at all pronounced. Watery mouthfeel, astringent and fizzy mouthfeel, long sharply bitter finish and aftertaste. Smelled good ... ghen I look and see this is supposed to be an IPA? Odd, seems more like an attempt at an altbier ...

From MartinT, delivered by Poperinge. Copper coloured. Bubbly dissipating head. Lots of hops but a strong celery cabbage aroma. Weird funky dry beer.
