A golden amber ale with a thin white head. Aroma of fresh cereals and nutty notes. In mouth, a classic vienna with nutty roasted malts. Medium bodied. Tasted at Mondiale 2007.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3428) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 22, 2007
Sampled on tap at le Saint-Bock. Pours a clear copper color with a thin offwhite head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, sucre d’orge and malt. Good flavor of malt, caramel, sucre d’orge, it’s sweet, but just enough, it finishes with mild bitterness. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. This is a solid vienna.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Radek Kliber (5305) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUN 10, 2007
On tap at Mondial 2007.
Good clean looking amber lager with tanned creamy top. Fine lace produced.
Sweet, fruity aroma, malty base, sweet caramel candy sugar finish.
Rich full malt base, sweet beer but well lagered leaving clean finish. Slightly nutty hops but this was only for balancing formula. Very well balanced. Nice detail oriented, well constructed and thought out. Bravo to brew master.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rederic (2326) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 7, 2007
Sampled at the mondial, amber-orangeish color, with a beige head, with a nice fresh toasty, biscuity malt nose, with a caramel note, hint of fruitiness, with a floral hoppiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a fruity malty character, with a hint of peach fruitiness, a mild biscuity note, with a nice but a bit overpowering flowery hop bitterness for the style, with a leafy accent, leading towards a fruity, grassy hop bittering finish. Nevertheless a quite enjoyable vienna lager. Merci à toi Pascal
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4772) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 7, 2007
Clear copper body with a very small off-white head. Surprising nice little beer. Flavourful spicy caramel in a well malted oily body very well balanced with dry herbal leafy hops. Both smooth and crisp. Soft carbonation. I liked it a lot. I can’t comment about the style since a Vienna is a bit like a skinny hard-working man. Frequent in other parts of the world but pretty rare in North-America.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2007
My Bottom Line:
Spicy, herbal hoppiness covers the shy caramel maltiness. In a blind tasting, I would’ve called this a pilsener, but who cares, this is a good lager whatever it’s called.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the clear amber.
-Biscuity maltiness does offer some crunch beneath those assertive noble hops.
-The finish leans towards the hops once again, but this hoppy prevalence is in no way intense, and so doesn’t bother at all the subtle nature of this beer.
-A little more caramel malt presence, and you’d have a smashing Vienna, imho.
On tap at the Mondial de la Bière.

Robe blonde aux reflets rouges très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche épaisse. Arômes de levures et de houblon amérisant. Saveurs de houblon amérisant franc et de malt caramélisé.
