UPDATED: JAN 7, 2010 What is that floating? This is ugly and really unappealing. Ridiculous foam that slowly goes down. Strong, sweet and hoppy aroma. Malty taste, notes of cookies and caramel, citrus intense hop domination of the taste, tongue-tingling, obvious relationship with the Ambrée. Quite good, especially from this brewer; a surprise.

341mL bottle from a trade with Lubiere, thanks Luc. I’ve never come across a beer that gushed as much as this one before, especially for a twist-off. The thing just exploded the second oxygen hit it and didn’t stop for a full minute, took forever for the massive beige head to settle enough to sip. Deep hazy amber in colour. Aroma is really hoppy, very sharp and not-infected smelling. A bit of caramalt as well and somewhat of a homebrew likeness to it. Interesting. Flavour is dominated by piny hops, though not in an IPA kind of way, dry palate carrying some mild sweet caramalts. A touch fruity and definitely yeasty. Sweet malt body and underlying earthyness become prominent as it finally settles down. Kind of unique actually and Golden Ale is sort of a lame classification, though it’s pretty hard to pin this one down. I’d say maybe Belgian Ale? The spritzy mouth-feel is very much like Orval and so is the appearance. Almost like there’s Brett in here without any Brett flavours. Still doesn’t seem infected. What a strange but interesting little beer!

Bottle (341ml). Via trade with Viper666. Cloudy amber with some dark chunkies, large frothy off-white head. Slightly soapy light fruit aroma, vague floral bitterness. The taste is a weird blend of black pepper, apricot, celery and spruce - I think this is sweet, but all that other clutter ... dunno. Thickish body, weakly carbonated, pungent aftertaste from the spruce/pepper elements - not actually all that bad, but damned if I can say why from the aroma and flavour.

Thanks to Phil for this one. Why the pitiful score? The body is cloudy gold to amber, quite effervescent, with a tall white head. Aroma is fruity, chewy, buttery, a bit of plastic. Flavor is yeasty, light bitter, honey, bubblegum aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2008 341mL bottle, courtesy of wickedpete. Thanks, Pete! Pours a bright, clear orange-amber color; light tan head with solid retention and medium-bubbled lacing; a gorgeous pour. Pleasant, dry, toasty aroma: toasted malts, cereal, breadiness, and mineral bitterness. Medium mouthfeel: sweet malts / sugar, yellow fruits, and toasty grains; basic dry, chewy maltiness; very drinkable, reasonably dry, and tasty overall; pretty underrated right now. Medium finish: fruitiness, toasty grains, and mineral bitterness.

(341ml bottle, thanks wickedpete) Large off-white head atop cloudy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, yeasty, some biscuit, light peach. Taste is medium sweet, yeasty, some biscuit/grain. Effervescent light-medium body.

Eructoblaster (2121) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 15, 2008
Bottle - 341ml. Dark gold body with good white foamy aroma. Decent malty hoppy aroma with flowery and grainy hints. Taste is dominated by sharp English hops flavors. Ends with a good bitter finish. Good everyday Ale.

Very sweet and fruit aroma is almost reminiscent of cream soda. Hazy, deep golden coloured body is topped by a generous, large bubbled, white head that recedes to a thin and lasting cover with some lacing. Sweet, soapy and floral flavours are dominant. Bitterness lingers but the flavours don’t seem to come together very well. Very dry in texture. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Le Gobelet, Jan-08).

Boutip (3451) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 25, 2008
Bottle: Poured a murky amber color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of unrefined grain is not very tempting. Taste is also dominated by this unrefined grain taste with a dry finish. Full body with minimal carbonation. Wow, this is quite bad and definitely not something that I would drink very often and even less for a session.

Hazy amber hue, with a creamy beige head, yeasty, fruity nose, with a bubblegum grape fruitiness, with some toasty malts, and a hint of brown sugar sweetness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasty grainy character, a faint yeasty bubblegum accent, with a subtle peaish, cooked vegetables, a floral hop resinuous, leaing towards a malty, grainy, hop bittering finish.
