Pours a huge beige head of soapiness that comes to dominate the glass. Malty aromas. A bit light mouthfeel. Initial taste is very much in stle of an altbier. Some ginger kicks in, it gets less tasty by the sip, and 500 ml. is way too much to drink.

Pours a reddish copper with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, light caramel and fruitish notes. Taste is a mild fruit with metallic and caramel highlights. There is also malt flavours that are predominant. I’d was expecting more from Au Maitre.

probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 20, 2009
500 ml bottle from Trappe a Fromage, shared with Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a goblet. MA06/09.

App.: Very deep amber-brown, cellar, remnants of a light tan head. Aroma: Lots of iron/metallic notes, a bit of malt and minty herbals behind that, light vague fruitiness, tight. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Some light peach and citrus, a touch of fig and raisins, a touch of leafy hops; lightly sweet with a little bitterness.

Disappointing.

Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 15, 2009
A dark brown ale with a thick moka head. A rather funky herbal caramel aroma, metallic notes, a bit off. In mouth, a light bitter chocolate, thin, nutty, overall simple and dissapointing. Shared with Probstk, Mai 5 2009. Thanks Karl.
