Draught at Vices & Versa. Pours a slightly hazy, bubbly yellow with an average size white head. Mild aroma of fruit, caramel malt and light hops. Flavour’s the same, fruit, caramel malt and light hops and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. A pleasant Pale Ale, it’s relatively well done and easy to drink.

(Rating #1238)

Tannins and fruity esters are plentiful alongside thin citrus hop character in the nose. Hazy orange-copper coloured body is topped by a thin but lasting white head. Citrus character is strong in the flavour along with plenty of tannins and fruity esters but malt presence is subdued leaving it feeling a bit thin. Somewhat astringent light-medium body with strong carbonation. Sampled on tap at Vices & Versa in Fall 2006.

Robe blonde surmontée d’une mousse blanche épaisse en dentelle qui persiste. Arômes de houblon fruité et de levures. Saveurs de houblon amérisant herbacé, de pêches, de malt caramel et de levures.

The pour reveals a hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma of citrusy and spicy hops. The flavor has a decent citrusy and spicy hops but not much in terms of malt. The body is light with a creamy texture and medium carbonation.

From Vice et Versa it has a hazy amber color, with a short lasting head. The taste is of citrus and hops. To me flavor was missing something, it was watery, I will try it again.

Hazy golden ale with a nice creamy off white head. Aroma of biscuiity malt and light c-hops. In mouth, a dry malt with herbal hops, and rather strange fusel alcohol and mineral notes. Lacks in malts and body. On tap at Vices et Versa, Sept. 3 2006.

Hazy dark yellow pour. Honest white cover lasts. Rather one dimensional nose showcases tight citrusy american hops which are encompassed by a rather heavy yeastiness. Tannic profile goes up with every sip as orange tea hops and cementy yeast notes combine to accentuate the high attenuation and consequent malt’s excessive subtlety. The result makes it rather astringent, drier than expected and makes the relatively heavy carbonation lacking malt roundness support. Quite thin and unbalanced therefore, but minor tweaks would already improve it a lot to me such as higher mash temp. or less agressive yeast.

Cloudy orange with a short-lived off-white head. Nose is pleasant with fruity notes (orange), lightly hoppy and a bit spicy. Taste is citrusy and hop juice with more malt presence than expected. Body is thin and a bit floury. Finish is more fruity than bitter (very mild bitterness). Decent beer but it lacks intensity. Refreshing but not tasty enough. Brewed specially for a Montreal pub called the Vices & Versa. Considering that Vices & Versa mainly carry Barberie beers this one is gonna feel like a Westvleteren.
