The dark Aubel beer, taken over from Brasserie d’Aubel when it closed. Light yellowish, dense mousse-like, sticky foam and dark bronze colour with rusty reddish hue, transparent and clear. Malty aroma with caramel and bitter chocolate, some subdued fruits (pear, plums) and yeasty spicy notes (liquorice, cinnamon) as well as subtle hops. Taste vaguely sweet, malty, smooth, in the finish with a slight toasted bitterishness and some sticky sweetness, possibly related to the use of apple juice.

33 cl bottle. Dark brown colour. Minimal off-white head. Aroma is sweet: raisins, caramel, sugar. Taste is disappointing. Mellow sweet taste, like winegums. Short finish. medium body. This beer has an annnoying taste. To chemical.

I taste a lot of spices. Beer is not brown, it’s almost black! Head was gone in seconds. Given to me by a friend who got it in Liege

Brown coloured beer with some slight carbonation and a short white head. Special roasted light herby hinted aroma. Medium to full palate. Finish is light sweet malty, herby touched. Not bad.

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Pours a nice cola colored brown. Aromas of malts, fruit, and a touch of spice. Has flavors of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of wood. Kinda thin in the finish

(bottle) Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Sweet and yeasty toast-malty aroma with an ashy touch and shy notes of berries. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Rather slim toasty malty base with notes of caramel/toffee, berries and a whiff of spices; sweet and a bit slim malt-accented finish with notes of caramel and a tinge of chocolate. Just okay but not overly convincing for a Dubbel. 03.XII.09

Bottle conditioned, 330ml from Grain d’Orge Brewery Tap, Hombourg, Belgium. Brown to amber with white head. Fruity, sweet and smooth beer, a little too sweet for me probably. Some light spices mixed in with a thickish caramel flavour. Not a refined beer in any way, but there are no off notes either.
