2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - DEC 3, 2009
(bottle) Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Sweet and yeasty toast-malty aroma with an ashy touch and shy notes of berries. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Rather slim toasty malty base with notes of caramel/toffee, berries and a whiff of spices; sweet and a bit slim malt-accented finish with notes of caramel and a tinge of chocolate. Just okay but not overly convincing for a Dubbel. 03.XII.09

Bottle conditioned, 330ml from Grain d’Orge Brewery Tap, Hombourg, Belgium. Brown to amber with white head. Fruity, sweet and smooth beer, a little too sweet for me probably. Some light spices mixed in with a thickish caramel flavour. Not a refined beer in any way, but there are no off notes either.
