COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pale that packs a punch! Foolish amounts of pale malted barley and a ton of fresh Pacific Northwest hops put this crowd favorite somewhere between a strong ale and a double IPA. Don't let the golden color fool you; this nugget weighs in at 7.8% ABV!!

Pours golden with medium lasting head. Aroma is a balance between malt and hops. Mouthfeel is quite light. Flavor is golden. Flavors were much milder than I was expecting. Not bad.

First thought, nice color gold/bronze but slightly hazy. Smells very sweet. First taste very sweet indeed at 7.8% maybe it has chill haze. That would explain the sweetness...not fermenting out all the way. It had a medium body. The bottle says "the pale ale that packs a punch" they got what they were lookin for. Overall not my glass o beer but good on them for achieving their goal. A bit to sweet for my taste but good on A.Alehouse

Pretty good. Strong, malty, and hopped well. Palate was nice and malty, semi sweet with hops lingering. Overall good beer.

Bomber shared thanks to mredwards. Clear golden color with a one finger white head. Sweet malt on the aroma with piney hops and fruity esters. The flavor is somewhat mediocre, with pale malt and dull resinous and citrusy hops. Medium-bodied with average carbonation and some astringency. Not too impressed overall.

Bottle purchased at the brewpub and shared by billshmeinke. Pours with a hazed golden body with some noticeable particles floating around. A large off-white head sits atop. Good retention and lace. Aromas are of pine, orange, resin, grass and caramel. Flavors are of tea, orange marmalade, oxidized hops, sun tan lotion and cardboard. Medium bubbles, somewhat dry.

Bottle shared at the September iteration of the Santa Cruz tasting series. Pours, uh, gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is crystal malty with a small piney hoppiness and some muddled esters. Flavor is malty with caramel and crystal notes, aged faded hops, and low bitterness. Probably has a fair amount of age on it.

On tap at the brewery. Medium amber color. Aroma is very mild with light hops. Flavor is well balanced with a nice hop bitterness on the finish. I’m surprised this is listed as a strong ale - I would have thought either American Pale Ale or IPA?

22 ounce bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. The aroma on this is a bit sweet, musty, and somewhat metallic. There seem to be some fruity esters playing along here, too. Light toastiness. A weird aroma. Transparent golden body with a smallish, weak, white head. Starts a little toasted, before this becomes pretty sweet, a bit cloying, and somewhat estery in the middle. Light banana fruitiness, before this becomes cereal like. Finishes with some resiny, dry, harsh hoppy bitterness. Weird.

A - Served a copper-orange color with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head hangs around for a while leaving behind some nice lacing as it fades. S - Aroma is a mix of piney hops and sweet malt. There is also a bit of booze and some biscuit mixed in as well. T - Starts off with a mix of rich caramel malt and some light grassy hops. Through the middle some citrus hop and bitterness comes through. The finish is a mix of grassy hop with a some sweet caramel and a touch of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and fairly crisp. The finish is a nice blend of sweetness and bitterness. D - Very drinkable. Interesting mix of IPA and strong ale, but it was missing a bit of punch or kick.

Kinda Weak in nose and flavor, strong in alcohol. More of a strong ale or double lager than anything else. hmm. strong and might be a good session

Sweet malty nose, almost barleywine like in a way with its residual sugary fruity sweetness. Soft earthy hop notes. Pale golden pour, no head. Fruity and sweet up front, quickly and initially that gives way to an earthy floral peppery hop notes followed by more light fruit flavors and light sweetness. Lingering dry bitterness and hoppy resins, starts to become a little soapy as it warms with a touch of astringence and a little alcohol due to its lighter body. Starts promising, ends regular.
