COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the isotope essential for nuclear grade weapons, this “Weapons Grade Ale” is the hop bomb you didn’t see coming! At 100 bittering units, PU240 captures the explosive hop flavor and aroma necessary to acheive a critical mass that you won’t find in other high-hop ales. A classified and combustible amount of Summit and Galena hops along with a double Dry-hop bombardment of Simcoe, Columbus and Nugget contribute to PU240’s high rate of spontaneous hop fusion.

Off the tap with a half finger of head on a medium straw colored body. The aroma of lemon, grapefruit and mandarin. Wonderful. The taste had a bold grapefruit bitterness with a mellow malt background. The texture was crisp with moderate carbonation. A wonderful DIPA that you cannot go wrong with.

Bottle as a generous extra! Pour has an orange amber color and a thin covering of off white head that retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has citrus, mellow pines, light malt, and a snap of heat. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation medium light. Flavor brings out some bitterness, citrus, pine, and grass. It wants to dry out but there is some sweetness and the finish hangs with a bitter heated punch. I dig the label and the artwork ties the whole thing together nicely.

Draft at Auburn Alehouse. Clearish amber with a thick white head. Aroma is pine resin, sweet toffee, citrus and alcohol. Flavor is heavy on the sweet caramel malt with some hop bitterness and an alcohol warming. Medium body with a syrupy mouth feel. Really sweet for me, cuts down the drinkability a lot.

On draught at the brewhouse. Pours and orange-gold with off-white head. Aroma is of massive pine. Flavor is all hops with some nice citrus in addition to the pine. Nice bitterness, and the alcohol is well-hidden in this balanced DIPA.

Poured from the bomber. Aroma is dank, I think reflecting the summit hop. Flavour is similar. Palate is medium, slightly watery, with a touch of oily. Overall would be a good ipa, maybe not imperial.

Tap: growler pour is orange-amber with medium sized white head. Aromas of citrusy grapefruit and pine hops with a faint malt background. Flavor is bittersweet with some grapefruit together with toffee stuck together with a little pine resin. Palate is bittersweet but finishes with more dry bitter. This hop bomb tries to balance but still comes off hop bitter yet with a lot of nice flavor.
