3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 beerguy101 (4921) - Newark, USA - MAR 2, 2009
Tasted on tap at the Bistro Double IPA Festival on 2/7/2009. This Imperial IPA pours a slightly cloudy orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is piney and citrusy. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of caramel. The hops are piney and floral. A fairly bitter IPA. The bitterness lasts in the aftertaste. Good carbonation. There is a touch of sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Koskela (31) - Marysville, California, USA - MAY 8, 2012
First pour, looked thick and full bodied and very sweet. You know what im talkin bout youve poured that sweet beer. First glance, beer is beautiful golden color very clear...amazing. You smell hops mmm amazing smell of hops maybe a lilmbit of malt, maybe 20L but 90% hops...amazing. First taste, sweetness but as soon as you recognize the sweet you get the hops the bitterness takes over. Not overpowering being its 100ibu. Very good A.Alehouse good beer and kudos. Thiss is a beer worth a rebuy for sure.

Great offering. I had it at the SAC Brewers Showcase. Very hoppy but 100 IBUs listed was well hidden in the malt. Very nice overall would drink this again and again. I like this IPA

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 baraciisch (606) - USA - FEB 12, 2012
Had this beer last week... Don’t remember much, but definitely remember it having solid grapefruit and pine hop character, well balanced malts and nice finish... Solid beer.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - DEC 28, 2011
22. Pours a murky medium amber with a dense and creamy tan head. Hugely explosive nose of grapefruit and pine, fresh and inviting and very brightly forward. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast and caramel and too little of the aromatics on the mid-palate; there’s some grapefruit there for sure and a pronounced piney finish but the promise of the nose isn’t fulfilled by the flavor by any means.
3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bigabe (194) - California, USA - DEC 24, 2011
This beer has one of the greatest IPA aromas of any beer. Insane amounts of resinous hops, grapefruit, and pine. Taste leaves a bit to be desired. Lots of great, sticky hops flavors... but no sweetness or malt whatsoever to build up the body. The cask conditioned version of this is EPIC though. It fixes all the issues and makes it damn near perfect.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jethrodium (281) - Berkeley, California, USA - SEP 14, 2011
On tap at Bobby G’s. Pours a darkish golden amber with a small white head that has pretty good retention and leaves a good amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma is pine and dank hops, some caramel, and a bit of cracker. Not a ton going on. The taste follows the nose with pine and dank hops, caramel, and cracker. Taste is quite bitter throughout with a strong bitter lingering aftertaste. Not very pleasant. A bit of alcohol as well. Medium carbonation. Medium to full body. Overall not that enjoyable of a beer. I probably won’t have it again. The bitterness definitely needs to be taken down a notch.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 larryLSB (282) - La Selva Beach, California, USA - AUG 13, 2011
Poured from bomber, purchased at the brewpub on August 12th. Golden-copper, fairly clear, with minimal off white head. Sweet citrus nose, with a bit of caramel that really opened up as it warmed. More on the bitter side than the sweet, but somewhat balanced. Medium bodied DIPA with a bitter finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bnoel09 (271) - Elk Grove, California, USA - AUG 13, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Medium copper color. Aroma is primarily sweet caramel malt and some piney hops. Flavor is very similar with a sweet start that moves into a long bitter finish. Nicely balanced for an Imperial IPA. Overall a nice representation of the style.
