Sweet malty aromas, much like those scent rising from the mash tun. A light herbal and citric nose as well. Fairly dry start but sweetens as it continues. Some dry yeast flavors come in mid quaff with a rather dry herbal bitterness. Light and unassuming on the palate. Long dry pale malt finish. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Cloudy pale golden color, medium sized white head that lasted for some time then faded slowly to a nice lace. The aroma was lemony with a some what wheaty side. The flavor was not the same as the aroma for sure.kind of caramely with a decent malty side and the fruit is pretty much in the background, with just a light citrus side at best. The hops come on at the tail end and only faintly with just a mild bitterness in the finish. Not bad in,fact kind of refreshing, well worth trying again. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2005 Bottle pours a slightly hazy pale yellow, large frothy white head, very sticky lacing, with lively carbonation.   Grainy/grassy nose, slightly herbish.   Sweet malty flavor, slightly cornish but subtle, with a minor herbish or tea tinge.   Body and mouthfeel seem medium to full.   Finishes a tad less sweeter, malty, with a sharper tea or herbish flavor.   Pretty damn tasty, and quite interesting.   A great sessionable beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2005 I feel privileged to have gotten my hands on this extremely rare style - and what a treat it was. This was a Zwickel, I believe, and it was, true-to-style, like lager’s answer to real ale. MASSIVELY yeasty and a tad cloudy, it had a funk and yeast aroma that was delicious. The hops were significant and reminiscent of a bohemian pilsener. Lightly carbonated. Very enjoyable. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA

Fruity, bready malt aroma, slightly grainy. Sweet fruity, shortbread flavor, well carbonated, mild spice, lemony undertones. Much better than I thought it would be. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
