Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 11, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) A pale Altbier? Well, that’s definitely a first - but an interesting style indeed. Fully golden with a handsome head. I believe I can detect a few fruity notes from the ale yeast, but otherwise this mostly appears like a solid malty beer with a marked hoppy finish. 040602 MiP (5105), Flensburg, Germany Jan 13, 2007 Bottle, 4.9%. Semi-fruity aroma. Clear golden colour. OK stable white head. The flavour is also semi-fruity with some naturtrübiness. Quite clean, though, with medium bitterness. Cornfield (4263), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 20, 2005 This pours a hazy straw color with a healthy white head. Plenty of active carbonation here. The aroma is a bready malt with a light floral hopping. It’s got a nice blending of the sweet, doughy malt and the hop bitterness, ending in a mildly bitter, dry finish. Nice. JPDIPSO (4234), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Mar 4, 2005 Cloudy dark straw color with a smallish bubbly white head. Sweet malty aromas, much like those scent rising from the mash tun. A light herbal and citric nose as well. Fairly dry start but sweetens as it continues. Some dry yeast flavors come in mid quaff with a rather dry herbal bitterness. Light and unassuming on the palate. Long dry pale malt finish. Ernest (4229), Boulder, Colorado, USA Nov 1, 2002 Updated: Aug 3, 2003Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (light bread), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs, grass), lightly yeasty (cobwebs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Decent mouthfeel, rather fluffy. Yeasty sourness comes out more in the finish but is relatively gentle.
