COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our completely unique speciality with the singular taste of a top-fermented beer. Brewed in the old Rheinland way since 1964, it convinces true beer connoisseurs with its fine ale character, fruity and tangy flavors, and golden color.

Found this at an obscure German delicatessen in Sacramento. Hazy, pale cold color with firm white head formation. Smell is very fresh lemon-grass, somewhat sweet but not cloying. Very full-bodied for light coloring, with a firm, gently-disolving mouthfeel that never gets fizzy. Flavor is pure German alt all the way, with juicy, biscuity sweetness perfectly balanced by an even hop balance that never even thinks about leaping to the forefront. Has the grainy, raw taste of Weihenstaphan lagers - it's the taste of true artisanal craftsmanship. This beer is a triumph!

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Nice head. Starts a bit moldy and sourish, the finish is a bit too dry. Not better than average! Thanks joss for the bottle!

[bottle from Christoph] Crisp and grainy sort of Helles-ish aroma. Very nice balance of crisp malt and fresh, German hops. Straw with a very slight green tint, oddly. White patch and ring. Helles flavour: sweet and grainy malt with low bitterness. Plenty of noble hops flavour--would be better with a little more bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, sweet finish.

Bottle, 4.9%. Semi-fruity aroma. Clear golden colour. OK stable white head. The flavour is also semi-fruity with some naturtrübiness. Quite clean, though, with medium bitterness.
