MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAR 18, 2006
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2006 (swing topp bottle) Dark orange to amber colour with a nice foamy, almost beige head with lace. Noble aroma of dark toasted malt with gentle herbal and slightly floral hops. Bitter flavour with a fine sweet malty taste, medium bodied, well-carbonated, soft mouthfeel, bready taste with caramel; dry and bitter, herbal hoppy finish with a touch of honey. Almost perfectly rounded and balanced Dunkel: Champions League !

larsga (4621) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 11, 2005
Medium fine-bubbled head, dark amber, clear body. Aroma is mostly raisins, with hints of earthiness. Taste is quite powerful and deep, consisting mostly of sweet maltiness and smoky earthiness, with a bitter, dry finish. Something smoky lingers between sips. Overall an unusual dunkel, interesting, and quite good. (0.5l glass mug on tap at the brewery inn.)

YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - MAR 27, 2005
This is a real treat! Nice huge frothy egg shell white head on the orange amber colored brew. Lively carbonated. Smells like a loaf of whole grain bread - so intense and yummie. Intense oats, grain taste, medium lasting. As it warms up roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate are imagined. Well balanced. A superb brew.

pivo (2540) - GERMANY - MAR 27, 2005
Light caramelly nose, shimmering amber, tall biege head. Creamy malt taste - grainy and sweet. Syrup, some toffee (almost chocolate), toast and a tinge of peat flavors all come through. Light dull broad bitter. Thick body and a creamy mouthfeel. Great balance. This is an exceptional beer and one of the reasons Germans are seen as expert brewers around the world. Seek this out if you can!

Strong chocolat and roasted aroma. Copper color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, chocholat, little smoked. Little sticky and warming although just 4.7%.

Marcipan and chocolate aroma, some sharp edges from coloring malt and bittering hops. Chestnut rown, fluffy head. Chocolate flavors, still some edges, but pleasantly. Hard dry bitterhop finish.

Malt and coffee aroma. Barnyard smell. Sweetish, malty taste with chocolate and licorice. A bit skunky.
