BeerViking (2424) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 25, 2011
50cl bottle from Bavaria. Cloudy amber with a fast-settling off-white head and faint apply sweetness and cloves on the nose, then a bready, spicy and slightly tart (but not unpleasantly so) body, finishing with more lemony tartness and a bitter edge.

KnutAlbert (6067) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2011
Bottle from Fränkische Botschaft, Berlin. Hazy amber, slow carbonation. MAlty beer, grain, bread. Some hops tp cope with the sweetness, but it ends up on the syrupys side. Rather boring, don’t go out of your way for this.

MartinT (7779) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 31, 2011
My Bottom Line :
This prickly Zwickl’s lightly toasted malts and levelled herbal hop bitterness benefit from some orange-y angles that significantly increase drinkability.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam clings to the striking amber.
-The toasted malts are mild, tied to delicate basic grain flavors.
-This was like a more polite version of their Dunkel. Grain bill and hops tasted quite similar.
-Mouthfeel is lean; few residual sugars and fierce carbonation.

On tap at the brewery restaurant.

Bottle @ Bamberg. Pours dark hazy golden with a small off white head. Nose is bread, grain, hops and barnyard. Quite rough and bitter flavor with a slightly unpleasant note of vegetables. Medium and smooth palate. Ok.

Hopfiger und brotig-muffiger Geruch. Herb im Beginn, gibt sich die Mitte malzig mit wiederum einem brotigen Unterton, der störend wirkt. Dumpf malziger Ausklang. Weniger gut.

Geiserich (3340) - Linz, AUSTRIA - OCT 6, 2010
Bottle: Hazy, medium orange color, creamy head. Fresh, light yeasty aroma, notes of citrus and a intensive grain note. Flavor is very grainy, light yeasty a bit fruity and pleasant hopped. Medium bitter, grassy finish. Quite nice and tasty.

Bottle, courtesy of MiP. It pours an almost clear, golden body under a small off-white head. Malty, bready nose with some hoppyness. Malty, bready and hoppy flavor too, giving a fine bitterness to follow you until the very end. Medium body, quite dry. A decent beer, but this one didn’t impress me at all. Strangely enough, a German beer drank in Germany, even at a hotel room, almost always taste better than when bringing it back home. Therefore, maybe I’m a bit unfair with this one, but it just didn’t ring my bell when tasting it. 090821
