Swing-top by 22.03.12. Nice bready/doughy nose, a little wild with that signature Aufsesser yeast signature/spagh, and light nutty roast. Deep golden body with a rocky beige head. Taste is relatively dry, citrus is subdued, still a nice malt character despite the thinness, also some pretzel. Stroke of acidity and again the hint of wildness. Light-bodied and very repeatable. Seems like the experience with this one varies; mine was a good one.

50cl bottle from Bavaria. Cloudy amber with a fast-settling off-white head and faint apply sweetness and cloves on the nose, then a bready, spicy and slightly tart (but not unpleasantly so) body, finishing with more lemony tartness and a bitter edge.

KnutAlbert (6712) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2011
Bottle from Fränkische Botschaft, Berlin. Hazy amber, slow carbonation. MAlty beer, grain, bread. Some hops tp cope with the sweetness, but it ends up on the syrupys side. Rather boring, don’t go out of your way for this.

My Bottom Line :
This prickly Zwickl’s lightly toasted malts and levelled herbal hop bitterness benefit from some orange-y angles that significantly increase drinkability.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam clings to the striking amber.
-The toasted malts are mild, tied to delicate basic grain flavors.
-This was like a more polite version of their Dunkel. Grain bill and hops tasted quite similar.
-Mouthfeel is lean; few residual sugars and fierce carbonation.
