UPDATED: MAR 23, 2010 Draught at Beer Works Osaka IPA Challenge. Very malty nose. Huge caramel, rounded and buttery. Sweet, malty flavor. Light hops but rich, lovely malt. A bit fruity at the finish, with a touch of lingering bitterness. Great malt show, though a bit too unbalanced. Very British in style. Decent bitter finish. You don’t find IPAs like this in Japan regularly. (Note: had it again, and although it kept the British malt character, the malt flavor was minimized and wild hop astringency reigned. I think he has yet to figure our what he wants to do here!)

Keg at Popeye. Clear orange amber colour. Aroma very fruity orange, lemon, whole fruit bowl. Taste similar, quite light but plenty of flavor. Loads of fruit again, touch of malt too. Finish is crisp and bitter but not overpoweringly so. Very refreshing. Lovely.

Tap at August Beer Club. Excellent. A real full bodied, balanced but subtley vicious IPA. What I wanted Aooni to be. Very fruity - mandarin, grapefruit, banana, apples etc real orchard stuff with a the balance of the big toffee/caramel body. About as good a balnced IPA as I have had in Japan. Top notch and highly recommended.

On tap at BarBar, Tokyo. Clear golden, creamy head. Fruity hop aroma. Citrussy hop flavours, lots of grapefruit and solid hop bitterness. A solid IPA.

Draught at Nippon Beer Festival 2010, Tokyo. Clear golden - white head.  Ok hoppy. Fruity. Bitterness. Nutty. Grassy. Resin. Cactus. Toasted. Light malty. Caramel. Nice. 

Draft at Popeyes (Tokyo), pours a clear amber. Big caramel malt palate, good balance with the hops, which have a touch of savouriness. Finishes nice and bitter.

Pours a nice copper color. Aroma of malts, caramel, earthy hops. Flavor is full of the malt, but also has some nice hop bitterness. Not your normal IPA. Good, but hard to down a full pint.
