Commercial Description:
The Ardennes Forest. A peaceful escape. A place for reflection. A romantic retreat. The site of some of the world’s oldest monasteries. Also, home to the special yeast that gives Augusta Tripel its signature taste and fruity intensity. We use palm sugar from India to create a 9% ABV beer. Our deep golden Tripel Abbey Ale always transcends the ordinary.

750ml bottle, Batch #1. Sweet, sugary aroma, spicy, fruity and full of yeast with notes of melon, pear and faint alcohol. Gently hazy golden color with a very fine head. Flavor is sweet, spicy, gently alcoholic and fruity, with apple, pear, faint melon, sugar and faint pepper. Palate is a tad thin and acidic, body is medium. Very drinkable but not exciting.

Batch 1 from a 750ml bottle. Hazy dark gold with lots of fast moving carbonation. A dense off white head on top that leaves lots of lacing in the glass. Sweat and pears is up front in the sweet nose. There is also some hint of allspice. The taste has some pear core and strong wood notes throughout. There is also some very strong clove in the finish. Spicy overall, this is a fairly dry beer.

Fruity but with an intense bite. Not the typical saison. Lacking the lightness of a saison which may be good or bad. Overall decent and worth coming back to with batch 2.

Sampled at the St Louis Brewers Heritage Festival 2009. Pours a cloudy and pale golden. An excellent tripel. Lots of banana and clove in the aroma, as well in the taste. Some sour sweetness as well. Very good.
