COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is hazy because it is unfiltered. The fruity character of this wheat beer is from the yeast left behind.

Draft sample at the St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival 2011. Pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a small white head. Aroma of orange citrus, banana, sweet doughy malts, faint clove, and honey. Flavor of banana, clove, sweet bready malts, tangerine, and tropical fruits. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, juicy mouthfeel. The fruitiness to this maybe takes it a little out of the traditional hefe style but it doesn’t matter to me because it’s so clean and refreshing. I could drink this all day.

Tasted on tap at Augusta Brewing in Augusta, Missouri. Light orange (lighter than a typical German Hefeweizen) appearance that’s mostly hazy but not completely. Sweet wheat malty aroma. This is a German Hefeweizen but a bit more bitter like an American Hefeweizen.

Strykzone (3132) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 5, 2010
Sample at the brewpub. Mostly clear golden with an aroma that is mostly cloves and some banana. Just a hint of butter. This is not as sweet an offering as many of its style. There is some bitterness from orange peels, perhaps, light bananas, and fruit. Pleasant but it could use some umph.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Big banana fruit aroma. Golden coloured strong in alcohol hoppy and wheaty with a crisp and slightly bitter finish.

On tap @ the sister brewpub, Square One. Appearance is very thick golden, cannot see through it. The beer is basically an esters gone bad hefe. There just isn’t much else backing it up. It is watery banana, some orange peel, and fruit sugar throughout. Also needs a bit more carbonation.

On tap at Augusta Brewpub. Unfiltered banana yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon, herbs and mild banana. Lively palate tastes of banana, wheat, lemon and yeast.

Dogbrick (4824) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2008
Sample at the brewpub. Pours an unfiltered yellow-orange color with a thin and foamy off-white head that diminishes steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of bananas and citrus plus touches of wheat. Medium, clean body with fruit and wheat flavors along with notes of yeast. The finish is sweet and fruity with banana and light yeast aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - APR 26, 2006
On tap at the 2006 Best of the Midwest Brewers’ Festival. Pours cloudy yellow with a hefe appearance. Unfortunately, my glass was filled with chunks of fungus from the jockey box that had most likely never been cleaned. Good banana and clove esters to the aroma and flavor. Not bad at all. A good enough beer that I refuse to slam it for being served under such filthy conditions. Clean your lines, you cheap-skate lazy bastards!

tap at brewpub in Augusta, MO. pours lightly hazzy yellow with a nice sudsy white head and good lacing. banana, diacytl aroma with notes of clove. big banana flavors that overpower the light diacytl notes. nice mouthfeal-creamy and just the right amount of carbonation-velvety. a pretty decent hefe from a midwest brewery.

Tasted 11/5 at the Brewery. Orangish-brown with a hazy body. White ring of head. Dirty yeast aroma with a banana note. Floral and citrusy. Apples and melons in the mouth. Good Hefe!
