Fairly clear for a HW, but with a good banana aroma. Presents with a nice crisp citrusy wheatiness with austere yeasty edge. Excellent beer.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (7522) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 11, 2004
Mostly clear, golden lager with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is pungent with lots of banana, lemon and clove. The flavor is malty and sweet with tons of traditional German hefeweizen fruits and spice. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, spicy, dry finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 clingman71 (295) - Centerville, Ohio, USA - JUL 10, 2005
Appearance is lacking the cloudiness of an unfiltered wheat. The lavor is excellent, however, with a slightly twangy finish. It had the banana flavor that is expected from the style and was very refreshing.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 21, 2005
Cloudy light golden color with an off white head. Light sweet wheat and bubblegum aromas. Mild tropical fruit and wheat flavors. Similar to Oberdorfer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (3530) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 13, 2011
Draft sample at the St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival 2011. Pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a small white head. Aroma of orange citrus, banana, sweet doughy malts, faint clove, and honey. Flavor of banana, clove, sweet bready malts, tangerine, and tropical fruits. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, juicy mouthfeel. The fruitiness to this maybe takes it a little out of the traditional hefe style but it doesn’t matter to me because it’s so clean and refreshing. I could drink this all day.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 adnielsen (3704) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 2, 2010
Tasted on tap at Augusta Brewing in Augusta, Missouri. Light orange (lighter than a typical German Hefeweizen) appearance that’s mostly hazy but not completely. Sweet wheat malty aroma. This is a German Hefeweizen but a bit more bitter like an American Hefeweizen.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sethdude (653) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 2, 2005
Tap: In the words of Gwen Stefani, "B-A-N-A-N-A-S". By God, it’s like eating a banana shake. Only not nearly as thick. Actually it’s a little thin. Pours a hazy gold, very small head that dissapears quickly. Aroma is like a freshly peeled banana, very mild clove and cinnamon. Flavor is identical, sweet fruit, mild spicing, and sweet wheat malts.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009
Big banana fruit aroma. Golden coloured strong in alcohol hoppy and wheaty with a crisp and slightly bitter finish.

On tap @ the sister brewpub, Square One. Appearance is very thick golden, cannot see through it. The beer is basically an esters gone bad hefe. There just isn’t much else backing it up. It is watery banana, some orange peel, and fruit sugar throughout. Also needs a bit more carbonation.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Terminus (2616) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - NOV 14, 2005
tap at brewpub in Augusta, MO. pours lightly hazzy yellow with a nice sudsy white head and good lacing. banana, diacytl aroma with notes of clove. big banana flavors that overpower the light diacytl notes. nice mouthfeal-creamy and just the right amount of carbonation-velvety. a pretty decent hefe from a midwest brewery.
