3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer International in Tsuen Wan.
Cloudy hazy golden honey yellow colour with small traces of yeast sediments; Two finger head with long lasting crumpety white foams; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Slightly fragrant aroma of malt, with light caramel, sugar, vanilla, light alcohol, and muted Bel yeast; Mid to light sweet taste of malt, with light metallic, shades of boiled jicama, caramel, ester, sugar, Bel yeast, very light spices, light liquorices, lemon, and strong grass; Medium body, quite slick palate; Mouth feel is fat body, good Bel yeast but short on fruity ester tastes. Strong sweetness but not cloying, booze is well hidden. There’s initial metallic plus bugging boiled jicama motes in the background suggests oxidation. That’s aside, it’s okayish… Hoppiness is no nose, lemony and strong grass in taste. Light liquorices mixes well with sweetness for a quite balanced, short sweet-bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste, sweet and easy to mouth.
Comments: Compares to the sub-par BSAs like Leffe Royale and Palm Royale I had earlier, this one cuts from pretty much the similar cloth, but is better in looks, body, and solid in taste. Of course, it’s still short on taste varieties, plus a very muted and lacking aroma keep this one from being top. It’s quite okay and drinkable, but far away from being likeable and favorite. Oh well.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Rose gold with a white head. Very high bead. Rather muted aroma is vaguely doughy, spicy and toasty. An odd long-dried spilled milk note. Taste is sweet and quite rich with toasty grain, some peach, pleasant spices, moderate bitterness. A little long-stored laundry sourness. Bottle’s well in date, but there are some strange things going on in this one that are interesting but not entirely pleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle courtesy of Kermis on an NH tasting to Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a broken white heat. The aroma is big yeast and malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a dry yeast watery slightly medicinal palate. Medium bodied with a average carbonation. Contains no pork, but there’s a nice picture of a pig on the label :-)
