3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
December 6, 2012; 7.0% abv, 330 mL, trappist, BBD: 09/70/14
Aroma of belgian yeast, banana and bubble gum. Also some herbal hops evident with some spice. Pours a deep burgundy with a tan head which doesn’t stick around for too long. Sweet toasty malts with dark fruit. Spices from the booze are upfront while the herbal hops take a backseat. Nice carbonation from the bottle conditions. Medium bodied. Pretty good but nothing special within the style.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Purchased as part of Winter Belgium Beer Sampler Pack. Pours a dark redish brown. Head thins out quickly but remains to the end. Taste is not as sweet as a typical Belgium beer, but more full. Good amount of carbonation with zero aftertaste. Would hardly tell it was 8% Alcohol. Will look for this beer again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nagyon finom karamellás illat, szép barna szín, és drapp, krémes, tartós hab. Iszonyúan fincsi karamellás íz, ami az első korttyal szinte rátör az emberre. Azután előbújnak a szőkére jellemző fűszeres, komlós ízek. Testes sör, gyenge utóízzel. Az alkoholt itt sem érezni.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty, hoppy, yeasty. Flavor is moderately sweet, alcoholic, roasty dark. Not nearly as good as some of the other Abbey Dubbels I’ve had recently.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.
Cloudy hazy dark ruby red colour with a thin trace of dirt like yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety off-white foams which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant aroma of dark malt, with light roastyness, light smoke, strong caramel, red fruits, brown sugar and Bel yeast; Close to medium sweet taste of moderate dark malt malt, with caramel, toffee, very light dark fruits, light alcohol, moderate brown sugar, light bread, Bel yeast, lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick, soapy and slightly creamy palate; Mouth feel is fair dark maltynes in a thin background. Soapy and slick. Sweetness as in brown sugar comes in right amount, not cloying but compliments the strong caramel and light fruits esters nicely. Booze is very light and well-hidden, with some pretty nice liquorices. Fair lemon to round. Quite nice!... Hoppiness is no aroma, with lemon and light grass in taste; Bitterness is low for an abrupt, fairly low astringent sweet malty finish. Fairly dry after taste. Easy and slightly bitter to mouth.
Comments: Compare to most Dubbels, this one has some naughty light smoke aroma, nice caramel and better sweet taste which suited the style. Yet the palate is somewhat thin and soapy. Slightly better than average, drinkable and worth a try.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear and dark amber with a frothy tan head that lasts. The aroma contains malts, caramel, ripe and dried fruits, butter, bread, yeast and some alcohol. The taste is medium sweet and light bitter, which lingers moderately long. Oily texture and soft carbonation. Good one.

75 cl Bottle - Expired 09/2014
This was not my kind of beer, too thin and too sweet. Lacked some complexity and refinement. Carbonation was very lively, although the age.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Small bottle, at the end of 2011.
Color: dark amber.
Aroma: fruity, buttery (similar to fermented baked milk)
Taste: semi-sweet, slightly bitter.
Mediocre, this beer not even close to Augustijn Blonde produced in 2008 and before.

Couleur acajou, mince effervescence arborant une petite dentelle beige. Au nez, c’est malté, En bouche, c’est doux, rond. Une touche caramélisé, terreux, le sucre brun.
Bien. mais pas top!
