December 6, 2012; 7.0% abv, 330 mL, trappist, BBD: 09/70/14 Aroma of belgian yeast, banana and bubble gum. Also some herbal hops evident with some spice. Pours a deep burgundy with a tan head which doesn’t stick around for too long. Sweet toasty malts with dark fruit. Spices from the booze are upfront while the herbal hops take a backseat. Nice carbonation from the bottle conditions. Medium bodied. Pretty good but nothing special within the style.

Bottle. Slow gusher. Pours a clear dark ruby-hued brown body with a massive creamy off-white head. Aroma is red fruits, raisins, caramel, grains and hints of figs and toffee. Taste is caramel, toffee, figs, mild prunes and hints of grains, bread dough and candi sugar. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. A pleasant dubbel for sure; no big surprises but well crafted and true to style.

A nice Abbey Dubble. From the rich, dark taste, you’d suspect a higher alcohol content. A recommendation!

Piana be?owa, drobna i trwa?a. Alkohol kompletnie niewyczuwalny. Piwo pije si? bardzo ?atwo, ale bez wi?kszego zaanga?owania kubków smakowych. Ten Augustijn jest raczej "?redni", szkoda.

Bottle, 8%. Weak brown sugar aroma. Almost clear dark brown colour. Small stable lacy off-white head. The flavour is roasted and vinous, OK paper note, a little earth. OK warming alcohol in the finish.

(Bottle, Cambrinus, Brugge, 23 Oct 2014) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of caramel, dark fruit and dark bread. Malty, slightly roasted taste with dark fruit, caramel, roasted nuts, a touch of chocolate and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.
