330mL bottle. Aroma is divine, appearance is beautiful, medium head that disappears. Taste is great, they lose 1 point for palate, though. The quintessential dubbel, perfect balance for the style. This beer is AWESOME!

Good color, and the head is perfect. Really nice bready, toffee, malts. Flavor is quite grainy, some nice cereals. Light bitterness, this is really bang on for the style. Little to no hops, dry lightly bitter finish. Great dubbel style malts. Great stuff.

330mL bottle from the over-priced Lickbow pack. Pours a clear amberish ruby with a small beige head, quickly dissipating with yeasty spots appearing. Aroma is odd, Belgian candi sugar, caramalt, chocolate, dust, spices, all blended well enough that it might seem bland but give it some good sniffs to get everything, it’s all there. Flavour is stronger on the indistinct spicy dryness but matched well with sweet and satisfying caramalt, and mild chocolate. A little fizzy, I had to swirl my glass like crazy to kill the carbonation and appreciate the flavours, but that’s something I find I have to do with beers from this brewery. Has this weird dusty aspect to it that somehow isn’t unpleasant. I actually really like this one. Ghent has an ’h’ in it.

330ml bottle from an LCBOgift pack. pours deep red with a tan head. pretty classic dubbel in both the nose and flavour profile. it doesnt have the depth or character of really high quality examples but its simple, straight forward and enjoyable.

Best Before Date: July 11, 2013 I tried this beer on November 17, 2011 after purchasing a 6 pack of various Van Steenberge beers from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent reddish-brown coloured that shimmered nicely in front of a light. The head was tan, started out an 1" in thickness, but quickly died. The aroma was dark fruits, caramel malt, spices, and yeast. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was caramel, yeast, weak hints of molasses, and nuts. I enjoyed it a great deal. Too bad only one comes in the box.

Poured from 330mL stubby bottle a dark brown color with an abundance of frothy beige head and nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, some yeast and nuts. Taste is nicely balanced with sweetness and hoppy bitterness and some spices. A pretty fine Belgian Dubbel.

Bottle 33 cl + tap on 30.06.09 @ Augustijnenklooster Ghent. Yesterday re-tasted from bottle @ Westende. Brown color with darkreddisch shine, and a beige head. Aroma caramel, sweet notes, fruits and a touch of chocolate. Medium body. Taste sweet start, caramell malts, good in balance, some fruits, soft bitterness @ the finish. Good.
