Full body - staying head - amber color with a spicy, malty palate that finishes very fruity with complex hoppy undertones.

2015 update: according to the brewer’s website, this is the same beer as St. Stefanus Grand Cru.

Nice amber colour with large frothy white head. Aroma is dominated by musty belgian yeast, with honey, toast and apricot jam. The taste is the same but with a very strong booze. Medium bodied and spicy on the tongue. Not bad at all but the lack of subtlety with the booze really detracts.

Bottle. Golden, honey pour with lasting head. Aroma: almond paste, soap, grass, lemon, hint of pine, boozy touch. Taste is sour and sweet, almost like a candy. Hint of almond paste. Slightly boozy, cherry. Robust. Bitterness in the development. Nice.

330 mL bottle. Hazy golden pour, bubbly white head that doesn’t last. Yeasty grain aroma. Flavor follows with some more spice. Okay Belgian.

Big bottle from Surdyk’s. Cellar release 11-2012. Consumed during Match Madness with commonshawn. Champagne like appearance with significant effervescence. Golden with a half finger of head. Aroma is Belgian yeast and slight sweetness. Minimal. Mouthfeel is bubbly and tangy. Taste has citrus, spice notes, and alcohol elements...maybe a little metallic. Belgian yeast once again. Reminds me of a tripel but a thinner body. A nice overall drinking experience.

This kind of is the Augustijn Grand Cru, but in a different bottle for the American market. Dense foam, amber colour, nice and smooth drink. But nothing spectacular.

average frothy white head. good lacing. mostly diminishing. sparkling hazy thick dark orangeish-amber body. aroma: light hoppy, pineapple, white wine, alcohol. if: moderate sweet. ff: light acidic bitter; average duration. palate: light medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation, metallic moderate alcoholic finish. 60 s

Cellar release date of 10/2012, 2 years old. Pours very slightly hazy golden color, with a 1-finger off-white head. Moderate bubbling along the wall of the glass. Crisp, fruity aroma, with a light yeasty note. Body is medium-to-full, and just a touch syrupy. Crisp, with a dry finish. Earthy yeast flavor lies beneath a crisp, fruity flavor that was reminiscent of apple.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - it’s a gusher. Golden with a large head. Nose - banana bread and a touch of vanilla. Taste - more vanilla and banana custard. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry tangy finish. Overall - it’s good even if not exciting on terms of Belgian standards.
