4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
An excellent strong ale. Deep golden hues with a generous head. Had it in the breweries bar so very well preserved, perfectly aged. Aroma of Apricots and pears, spice, a hint of herbs, the flavor is very nicely balanced between fruit ester and spice finishing clean and dry. Pairs well with WestV or any Abbey cheese. The marketing director said requests to have it placed below sea level when exporting on not always heeded and thus it could explain some low ratings for this fantastic beer as it’s a living product best drank near the source. It will be sold as St. Stefanus grand cru in the US due to battles with Augustiner in Munich.

Purchased as part of a Winter Mixer Pack. Swells sweet, but not as much as other Belgians. Pours a cloudy gold. Head clears quickly, but lacing lasts to the end. Taste is sweet sugary, but not overpowering. Good amount of carbonation. No aftertaste. Overall I was happy with this brew. Easy drinking, and would never know it was 9%. MB The Beer Bear On

750ml corked bottle of St. Stefanus Grand Cru from Monoprix Department Store, Grasse, France. 750ml. Hazy golden with a very large white head. It has a powerful warming lemon, peach and apricot flavour with spices on the warming boozy finish. A little too much alcohol is evident.

Thanks to my brother-in-law for sharing. Pour is golden with an ample white head. Clove more than banana and lemon zest and other citrus flavors. Flavor is standard tripel palate is a little rough around the edges. Not terrible, there are better examples.
