Cloudy yellow with a good head, sweet fruit aroma, taste reminds me of Christmas, like drinking a rich Dundee fruit cake with royal icing but with a bitter aftertaste, another great Belgian beer.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2006 This is a truly marvelous beer. One of my staples at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh. Sampled again on draft this brew pours a straw yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with just a hint of a pleasant sour tang. The flavor is sweet and tangy with a light fruit flavor that yields to a yeastiness on the finish. There is a rather thick mouthfeel. Overall one of my favorite Belgian drafts.

Fine aroma with some flower notes. Disapointing appearance, low head. To much alcohol in the flavor. Sweet malt too. Very strong ale.

This has a clear sherry taste to it--which gives it a real personality distinct from its big sister Augustijn or other tripel-style brews. Nutty aftertaste balancing a mild but persistent fruitiness.

I would agree that this is a "strong" Belgian ale. The alcohol is palpable, as are the banana and yeast. (1/5/2011)

33cl. bottle from a local beer retailer. It pours a hazy and sparkling golden-light amber liquid with a gigantic white consistent and quite pillowy head that lasts throughout the beer and leaves a good lacing. The aroma is very fresh, yeasty, with hints of citron and some spices. The flavour is far more complex and intense: strong orange notes with spices, a little alcohol (but pleasant), yeast, some ripe fruits (from pear to a little cherry) and a little wood as it finishes. It is mostly sweet, with a nice bitter touch and a slight sourness. In the mouth it feels quite lively (but pleasant), prickling the tongue and the inside of the mouth with the alcohol, full bodied and with a rather dry finish, with an aftertaste of citron, wood and a distant herbal hoppiness along with the spices. A very nice tripel with a good presentation that makes it quite clear what you are about to drink. An underrated brew in my opinion.

Yeast, citrus, malts and grains in aroma. Flavor is citrus/fruit/apple, a complex, grainy maltiness and mild alcohol kick in the finish. Very warming in the finish.

Poured from 330mL bottle golden with massive firm white head settling to nice lacing. Aromas of fruit, caramel and yeast. Taste is sweet malt, some citrus fruit, yeast, and wood with a slightly bitter dry finish with some alcohol. Great carbonation provides a nice mouthfeel and the body is quite full. A very rich flavorful strong ale.
